Title: [Price Check] Cruis'n USA Dual Sitdown
Post by: Superully on April 20, 2013, 03:10:38 PM
ok guys, i'm new to this dual racer thing, but i've been offered a good deal on a cruis'n usa - at least that's what i think. both cabs are in pretty good condition (apart from them being "soaked" in nicotine), one of them is fully working, the other one is completely dead, my first guess upon inspecting it on location is a dead switching power supply (which would be an easy fix).

apart from that, everything is there, all the keys and even the giant topper for the linked games.

without giving away the asking price, what do you think those machines are worth, how much would you pay for them?

would be great to get some ideas on pricing from you ...

That is a really good price, the topper itself worth around 100 imho. ;)

They use to go for very cheap. Three main reasons :

- The game/cabinet is not a 'collectible' one... not a 'mainstream' game at all!
- This is not a good game (sorry to say it), compared to the master of racing game : Sega  ::)
- A lot of them has been made...or were distributed all over Europe

Most of guys I know who got that cabinet... have mostly the main goal : to mame or' console' it  :P

Single unit would be 150-250€ range, depending the condition...

I bought this, not long ago...
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Autorennsimulator-Midway-Cruisn-USA-DEFEKT-/151002531996 (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Autorennsimulator-Midway-Cruisn-USA-DEFEKT-/151002531996)

Without the topper.

One unit is not working, no sound or picture.
Second unit, boots up and works, but the steering and gas/brake don't work, and the screen is a mess :(

Hope it helps :)

thanks for all your input, guys!

WHY do you think it's not a good game, bruno? i somehow liked it at luigi's party, it gets a lot of play and from what i can tell, it's not as realistic as e.g. daytona, more like a fun racer.

Well, something looks wrong for me, like a 'unfinished' game, or a 'cheap' pc game in the beginning of 3D era  ;D  : approximative game play, not as smooth as the other racing games...
video game play here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29D63COIB8w
Sure, more interesting, friendly & fun to play it in competitive mode (like many vs games after all)... but for me this game won't have a good replay value in a private game room, especially if played alone.
Now if you like the game and have good memories on it, it's an other story... no need to argue, got it if the price sounds good to you ;) Taste & colors...  :)

Some truth in there, but I have been playing a 4 player set-up a couple of times and it is a LOT of fun, racing games are always fun when playing multi-player, and all seats are almost constantly in use during parties...............maybe not the best racing game, but also definitely not the worst.....

Not a bad game: it's fun when played with a second player, but definitely not a collectible game (and it doesn't fit your collection, but for sure you know  :)).

If you consider the efforts to take/transport it (it is heavy!) and the space it needs to be stored, i would consider having it for free or very close to free

Then I must be the only one in the world who loves this game  ;D Actually, cruis'n'world, off road challenge and cruis'n'exotica
are a lot better, but cruis'n'usa is still a cool game.

remember it was one of the first racing games to display textured polygons. Quite impressive at the time.
