it covers the basics very good, which are essential to start reading schematics

I like the Collin's Lab videos, very learnfull

With the old-fashioned US symbols.... But it is probably from reading old US schemes.

By the way, what are the circles on IC inputs? Never seen those.

This means that the input is inverted. More information here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NOT_gate
