I have a malfunctioning dip switch on my Popeye pcb, for example when I set it to 3 lives there is only 1 and it is always on the hardest difficulty.
Are these switches could be simply replaced, or only the Nintendo type match to this pcb?
Thanks for any inputs. ;)

I think any will do since its just like a jumper ..
you can even solder a bridge in there if you dont want to switch them anymore..

Yeah, there is also one on the pcb with four for the credit settings, but it is working. :D

I guess you need these:

Hey Andre, how do they handle if you order and change the shipping adress to bela ?
do they accept that ?
-
No idea but I think its unlikely they will accept that....could give it a try though....

It looks different, but I think it would be working on my pcb. ;)
I have tons of non-working garbage pcbs, I think I will steal one from those, it will be also a good soldering-desoldering lesson for me. :D
Thanks for your help. ;)

there is two options:
a. I hope you got a desolder station or a very good pump...
b. if not, break away all the pcb around the dipswitch and between the legs so they are separate.
then you can desolder the pieces of broken pcb off one by one...
(the opposite of the "ic cutout - desolder separate pins technique"
but i am not sure the dipswitch will survive method B ;D

Thanks for the nice tutorial Etienne. ;)
The new equipment for this job is on it's way from Germany, stay tuned. :D

Be aware it may not be the dip switch itself that is at fault. I had a Hyper Sports board which failed to register any changes to dip switches, it was the logic chip the switch fed into that was at fault.

Ok thanks, I will also try to investigate that. ;)

try to beeb them and switch to check if its really broken,
maybe the dipswitch is not the problem as suggested before..
