Title: [Wanted] American Plugs 120V
Post by: Superully on September 23, 2011, 06:17:15 PM
for a couple of stepdown transformers i'm looking for american 120v plugs (3 pins) like this one (http://www.henri.de/bauelemente/steckverbinder/netzstecker-export/us-stecker/6197/usa/us-netzstecker-3polig-125v-15a-mit-schutzleiter.html) - only somewhat cheaper (because i need more than one).

if you know of a good address to get those (haven't been able to find cheap ones at rs online), please let me know. i can't continue my restos without them ...

If you can't get them locally (Europe), I can send you some from the US.
Paul.

Well here in Canada they are about CAN$7-10 (~5-7 Euros) for a similar type as you posted

Shipping may be the killer - I sent a laser disc to France and it was ~CAN$70, athough this would be a smaller package.

Well the cheapest that I found online is about CAN$5.31 (3.82 euros): http://www.rona.ca/shop/~plug-bipolar-plug-cooper-wiring-device-62492_!plug_lighting-electricity_shop

...correction CAN$5.26 (3.78 euros): http://www.rona.ca/shop/~plug-heavy-duty-bipolar-plug-cooper-wiring-device-63667_!bipolar-plug_shop

How many did you want? I could get a shipping estimated cost if you like (pm me your mailing address). ;)

thx a lot for your offer, but i'm afraid shipping would kill the deal since i need 4 max. don't know if you can check the shipping price online, destination would be germany!

You could probably fit 4 in one of those 14$ international flatrate boxes. That would probably be the cheapest option.

Can't you use these ? Simply cut the cable and strip the wires...

would be an option, but i'd prefer a "cleaner" solution. in the meantime, i've found a shop which sells the plugs for 5 euros a piece, but they don't sell to private persons (like rs online), but i placed my order nevertheless and just put a . (dot) in the company's name address line. let's see whether they take it or not ...

thx, that one looks funky, andreas, and it comes from "my favorite country - china". 20 - 30 days delivery vs. free shipping - i'll have to think about that!

Ok, I checked the shipping online and the cost is not even close to justify it. Sorry

I would go for Andre's option, the more cheaper solution, and you got a brand new cord, it never hurts  ;)

Be careful when it comes to mains voltage stuff and China. Often the products do not comply with European approval standards.

Doesn't ALWAYS mean the stuff is dangerous but I once ordered a  number of mains plugs VERY cheap that needed to go in the back of my mains switches in the game room. They are the three pin type that go in devices, but male version this time.

The quality was SO bad that I couldn't even install any wires to them plus the construction was so poor that they were simply dangerous to use.
I sent them back to the seller (a company in the UK), got my money back and an apology and that they deleted them from their program (which they indeed did).
