Hey everyone! Just saw some chit chat on Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning in the V3 Thread. Here are some of my viewpoints:
Where you live is for sure a deciding factor on everything!
It is usually always Hot and Humid where I live, so I require a house sized 2 &1/2 ton A/C unit with Gas Heat. I also have a de-humidifier in the game room to keep the humidity at a constant 40% This keeps the game room cool and comfortable year round.
Notes:
Humidity above 60% will cause damage and increase the chances of mold and silverfish. Paper and posters will curl. It will feel damp and icky.
I don't know exactly how the weather is where most on this board are, but from what I gather from where Bruno lives, it's like the upper U.S. here, bitter cold winters, and lower humidity.
If you have a smaller game room, like the size of two bedrooms etc, you might could get away with a smaller heater. But if it's way larger, Gas would be a better option than electricity.
I keep my Thermostat set for Heat at 70 and A/C is set at 77, With the de-humidifer, it makes it seem so much cooler in the gameroom in the summer when it's 98 outside with 88% humidity!
