For all Berzerk owners:
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=160985
For those who do not know what this is:
The ZPU board is the main board of the Berzerk PCB set. As we all know, these suffer from leaking batteries over time (if not removed in time, which means most of the time) which can totally destroy the boards.
The ZZPU board is a greatly simplified (much less chips) version of the ZPU board that can not only play Berzerk but also Frenzy !
Of course there is NO emulation going on (I wouldn't even consider it if it were...)
Here is info I copied from an earlier message about these:
Features:
* Completely replaces the original ZPU-1000/1001 PCB
* No more worries about battery corrosion and oxidized sockets
* Modern, compact design
* Improved DIP-switch configuration
* Self test runs at power-up only, not when switching games
* All-TTL design (no programmable logic) ensures servicability
* Non-volatile RAM for high score saves
* No intrusive menus, for the original arcade feel
* Berzerk or Frenzy jumper selectable at power-up
* Unlike some other vendors:
ALL BOARDS ARE TESTED BEFORE SHIPPING
Changing between berzerk and frenzy is accomplished in one of 3 ways:
* "Game Switch" button on the ZZPU
* Wire in your own switch to an added harness pin
* Optional harness available to swap games by pressing P1 & P2 together
In my experience, most berzerk problems are due to ZPU corrosion, so if
your game/boardset is dead / intermittent / flakey, this could be all
you need to get up and running again.
And here's a pic (may have changed though !)

how do you switch between the two games? i've heard / read that you need a special harness for that ...

Very cool.
Its cool that peopel still take the effort to make this!
it may not be emulation but for me it isnt the same as real hardware... I would chose it above mame ore a 60in1 any time but still even this isnt arcade perfect.
just my opinion!

There's a button/jumper on the board. Actually two - reset and game select.

Yeah, but that's not very practical (even though the drawer is the BEST invention in arcade cabs ever ;) ).
As mentioned by Etienne, the answer is already in my very first posting ;D
The only acceptable way for me is P1 and P2, so I'll need that extra harness....
