Title: What to do?
Post by: Vnera on August 21, 2010, 08:33:43 PM
Here is the deal. I got a option on a space firebird cocktail from nintendo. The game in there is crazy kong.  this is of course a 4 way game so them took out the original joystick and put in 4 way joysticks and made cuts in the original cp.

The monitor is good but needs a capkit i think. only ting missing is 1 button but.

So what to do. i would like to restore it to original state repaint nice new artworke original pcb ect ect.

ore...... put in a 60 in 1 in it. and be done whit it.

ore...... dont buy it. But its a nintendo cocktail whit a white top! and space firebird looks cool!

I dont know help me whit this one!

everyone here will say buy and restore or at least restore to original looks and emulate as a last resort.
if its the cocktail i'm picturing it does have a classic look, and you can always put a cocktail where there was once just a table  :D

It mostly depends of the price asked and... how bad you need this (this factor has a strong influence about how much you're ready to spend  ::))

I personally wouldn't go for a 60in1 because the emulation of the games are not so accurate (except 'simple' games such Pac Man for example...) although I didn't test this specific 60in1 (I only have a bad impression about the old 48in1 model)... so maybe the emulation is better on that one?

Regarding the monitor, if the capkit cannot fix the problem, or no easy repair possible for you, it will be possible to put a 14" inch TV inside.

Do not worry, there are many ways to go on your cabinet  ;) Any picture of the beast, especially the panel to see the damages following the cut on it?

I asked the seller if i could take of the cp to look how bad it was and if i could finde a new 1 because this was a break point in buying it ore not.

So i took of the cp and found out that the cabinet needs a repaint. there is rust inside and behinds the cp it isn't bad but it is there. i also the cp is faded in the sun.

Now when i took of the cp i was thinking if there aren't there any reproduction parts? Ore would the be hard to make a reproduction panel?

Would like to hear your opinions!

edit: reproducing it will be very hard because the pannel isnt painted but more like burned. hard to explain but i know nobody who can do that :'(
