Title: Balsa Arcade - Robotron
Post by: subzero1970 on February 02, 2010, 11:00:26 PM
Here is my 2nd attempt at a balsa wood model, much happier with this one, as I used thinner sheets of balsa wood - heres the pictures :)

Tools of the day:

Design cut from the paper arcade template:

Sides cut out:

All parts cut and stuck:

Marquee in place:

Control panel in place:

Done (almost, just missing joysticks - need to get em bought!)

First one and second one side by side, the thinner balsa looks better, and as you can see SMB now has joysticks!!!

these are sweet. i'm sure there is a modeling material that will work better than balsa wood for a nicer finish, ill will try to remember what it is called.

You can try with MDF 4mm or 5mm

Balsa wood is easy to cut - the reason they arent glossy is because the printouts were on normal paper...defender however will be shiny!!! :)

you're getting better with each model. every thought about putting some kind of light into them to mskr it appear as if the monitor was turned on?

Here is a balsa wood 720 posted by JeffC over on the KLOV forums:
