 :-* Screen

I'll use this two ways Galaga joystick reproduction... *brand new*  :)

The only bad point about it : It uses micro-switches   :P

Let's remove the rust on the screws from the control panel :

and 24 hours after the 'bath', no more rust  8) Because theses original screws are very old, they are still a little bit damaged, but it give a 'vintage' touch  :P :-*

Let's see who that panel looks on location :

 :-* :-* :-*

Now, let's prepare the controls.... I'm using the Utlimarc's Ipac2

I'm removing all the Ipac2 shift keys. For that, I'm using the WinIpac configuration tool. I'm using my main computer to test all the controls / configuration

OK, no problem with that  8)

And what about the sound ? Easy  :) I'll use this cheap speakers :

Let's check the value of the speakers ... 8 Ohm

Great  ;D The original Galaga speaker value is ... 8 Ohm too   :-*

So I'll use the amps for the that cheap PC speakers linked with the original Galaga speaker  8) :-*

The original neon is dead. I'll use a new one, not exactly the same (13W and no 15W like the original) but it'll be fine :

...on location...

OK, now I'll prepare a custom maintenance panel with three buttons ...

...and I place it inside the cab like this :

I'll explain later the function of these buttons.

OK, regarding the Galaga  glass bezel, I've to build a custom fixation (the original one was missing  :-\

...maximum protection for the glass

Done :

Now I can move or lay down the cabinet without any risk of breaking that beautiful bezel  :)

OK, got the "GALAGA DECAL - FRONT GRAPHIC" from TWOBITS.COM

...it has been roll up  :-\ ...

Let's lay down the cab' for the last time  :P

Now that I've founded the perfect location, I fix the artwork like this :

...because it has been roll up for shipping, it'll be a little bit more complicate  :-\ ...

Ok, same technique as usual... first, one side of the sticker :

Now I sure I'll be perfectly straight  :P Let's continue to apply the sticker until the end like this :

Let's avoid air bubbles...if possible  ::) :P

This is it  8)

The best moment :

Ops  :? Some air bubbles  ???

... OK, let's fix that  :D Here's how I'm doing it in this video

Done  :-* :-* :-*

Thanks Screen  ;)

Yes... few more steps to go, and ... this is it  :D ... but for now

Let's put back the Galaga marquee and ... switch on

Because there no more 'hard tasks' to do like painting or cutting, it's time to move the game from my ...humm... "Arcade Workshop" (A room at the first floor in my house in fact  :P) to my office (and my wife's office too by the way  ::)

...and I can start to improve my Galaga high score  :-* :-* :-*

By the way, this last picture is not an attempt to reproduce a Queen CD cover  ;D

...and ... ehh ... yes ... well.... because the cabinet is NOW in a great condition, the real chief is ok to let the cabinet in that room... until the completion of the Nuno's Lair v2 of course  8)

Remember, the original back door was missing.

Let's cut a piece of wood :

Here's the tools of the day :

Two layers will be fine...beware, fresh paint...

While this time, let's fix all the components on a piece of wood :

Now, on location

It's time to remove the small protective layer :

Ok it looks fine...

...but I need to fix the door... I'll use this...

But I need them in black...

Done :

This is it

 :-*

OK Screen,

Few words about the buttons and the software configuration :

- the first one (RED) is switch off/on
- the second is the ESCAPE key
- the third is the ENTER key

When I power on the game, it boots to advance menu. You have the choice between two games : GALAGA & GALAGA 88

I use my custom buttons inside the cabinet to swap between Galaga or Galaga88  8)

Regarding the joystick, I got mine via the TwistedQuarter Ebay store... this one, right here  :)

Hi Nuno!

Wow...................!

What a finish, I'm currently using some of your methods for my Outrun cabinet. I going to install a pc running mame, can you give me more detail on the three buttons, like Pc power on/off, reset.

keep up the good work

Hi Nuno,

I had a look at this store, which could have some interesting items at a correct price, I think. But they seem to sell only inside the USA (their French store is almost empty  :(). How did you succeed in ordering for Belgium ?  ??? Thanks

Stéphane

For Giddygoon, the red button is just the same button than the power on/off pc button, and the two others buttons are connected to the IPAC and set to be "ESCAPE" & "ENTER" via the WINIPAC utility.

Stethane, you can just ask to the seller "TwistedQuarter" for sending it to Belgium, it won't be a problem (I use to get stuff from him)  ;)

Ok, the last thing to do : the coins door

I got it like this :

Rust  :(

...even on the frame ...

...everywhere in fact...  :-X ...

Let's remove everything

Ready to be sanded :

I'm removing this protection :

...and as usual for these two parts : primer and black paint :

Ok, while the paint is drying, let's remove the rust on the other coin door parts :

It's time for them to take a bath...

... and 24 hours later... it's fine  8)

Ops... still some screws to refresh... ok here we go...

On location :
