I searched for 3 years to get one that was unmolested original mint condition, mine had done 6,000 miles from new, I imported it from the USA, look at the pictures in the link, the inside looked like it had never been sat in, the car was and still is the best example of a Delorean iv seen, apart being part of my favourite film, the brushed stailess steel is truly amazing, and when I picked it up from the local shipping port I couldnt believe the height of it...its so low, I drove it home with trade plates, there were people honking me, pionting, calling, guys hanging out of vans to see, it was surreal.

Unfortunatly I had to sell it last year to finance my house I am building, I regrete it, but some times we have to prioritise.

Yes Jason, I knew you have this beautiful car, but I've never seen the pictures of it. Wow  :o She looks like new  :-*
It's been a while I had the idea to buy one, but sadly, I asked you too late... already sold  :'(
Maybe the new owner will sell it one day ::) And so, I would like to be the first in line  ;)

It's funny to see that we all follow the same path (who says 'LifeStyle'?) here : Dragon's Lair ... Arcade games ... "Back To The Future" ... De Lorean  ::) 8) ;D

I dont remember, but I think the spedo only went up to 85mph (Finny: since you owned one you should know). The 6cyl really didn't make it a speedy car...

thats only 140 km/h,  thats certenly not fast
my 100 hp diesel seat ibiza runs 185 km/h and i still had a little space under the pedal....

i was thinking this was a faster car with 6 cilinders and 130 hp

It turns out that the US gov mandated 85mph speedometers. Supposedly it was tested and the car tops out at 121mph.

Still funny that they chose 88 mph for the time machine to work. No wonder they had a digital gauge for the movie that showed 88. The speedo would have only shown 85....

Someone posted that they hit 60 in about 9 seconds and 100 in about 23 seconds. The 60mph in 9 seconds sounds about right. I never did take it over 75mph.

Did a search on the inet and verified that the original speedo only went to 85. It was a gov mandate that limited the speedo from showing higher (remember max speed at that time was 55mph). Even my 85 trans am only had an 85mph speedo.

They must have replaced the one in the movie to a non standard one. DMC now sells ones that show up to 140mph.

It never was a fast car and that was one of the things that made it fail. That and poor quality and too high price.

I still love it though. Also Etienne, it's not really fair to compare a 1981 car with current model car. Let's compare it with a 1981 Diesel...... I remember my first company car was an Opel Kadett 1.6 diesel (no turbo's, let alone common rail, high pressure fuel injection etc. etc.). It didn't go any faster than 130 km/h. It took ages to actually reach that speed and it sounded like a John Deere.

hahahahaha  ;D ;D ;D

I need to agree with you , its not fair to compare my 2007 car with a 25 year older car

but still i expected more from this (in that time) futuristic looking car  8)

You are right about that. If you see it you expect it to be a sports car. It even has a V6 so you'd expect a bit more power from it. It's still a very very very cool car and I'd LOVE to drive it one time (if I fit) :P

I think there's only one other classic car that I would prefer to have above the DMC and that's a NSU Ro-80.

There's just something about the design that keeps it modern even now....
