Hantarex MTC 9000 and Power Supply US 250
« on: May 02, 2018, 12:19:58 PM »
So I'm trying to wake up my old mame cabinet again, putting an Arcade monitor in it with a MTC 9000 chassis. The chassis needs 128V AC and 220V AC input. I also happen to have a US250 power supply.

A few questions:

- What is the 220V AC input for?

- The MTC9000 manual mentions that you can use a US250 power supply, but for what? The US250 only outputs 136V DC (and a bunch of lower voltages)?

- If I can use the US250, then I obviously don't have 220V AC from it available. Is that a problem?

- Next to 136V DC pins on the US250 there are two pins for degauss. To where do I connect them on the MTC9000?

Take a look at US250 schematics, anyway see also my replies below.

The MTC9000 needs 220V for the degauss, which is normally done on the chassis. You simply put the plug of the wires around the tube on the two pins you mentioned (instead of putting them to the two pins on the chassis).

Thx Luigi, but I just discovered that I did a bad reading of the degauss pins on the US250 yesterday. they do output 230V AC after all, so everything is fine.  ;D

I did take a look at the schematics, but I was confused because: the MTC 9000 schematics mention 128V AC input for the chassis, but the US250 outputs 136V DC. I couldn't find anywhere in the MTC9000 schematics that this chassis can handle that too.

The Hantarex chassis are very tolerant regarding this voltage :)

I will ask Winni, the Monitor-Jedi, how the range is ;)

128 V AC is not the same as 136 V DC, anyway the US250 has been made to correctly supply power to a Hantarex monitor and game board, via Jamma or not.

Stromversorgung = the power you put into it.

The 136VDC is an OUTPUT voltage from the supply going to the monitor.

You need to see it like part of what normally is on the monitor itself is now done in the separate power supply..

Why our Hantarex friends thought that this was a good idea will always be a mystery to me.....

Connect the 136 V output to 128 V input of the monitor and it will work fine. Why? Because the 128 V AC is internally rectified to 130 V DC. By giving on pins 1 and 2 DC voltage you bypass the rectifier stage and works the same.
For the degauss circuit, connect the degauss output of the US250 to the 220 V input of the monitor.
Peace and have fun!  :D

Thx Matteo, I did that and it's working, the monitor came alive and is ready to use. :)

MTC9000 accepts 128VAC isolated or 135V DC directly from the US250 power supply. The US 250 power supply also provides power for degauss.

Does the 220V for the degauss need to be isolated, or can it be connected to the wall socket?

Can connected to the wall socket directly
