hey guys, it's this time of the year again: school holidays 8)

i thought i could do something different this year (apart from the usual arcade stuff) and go on an urban exploration tour in belgium. from what i've heard, this country is full of fantastic lost places like this one:

right now my plan is to do the tour in the second week of august, no specific date set though. i was wondering if any one of you guys would like to come along for the thrill of exploration, even if it is just for a few hours. OR perhaps you'd like to meet up in the evening, have a nice chat together and play a few arcade games. perhaps you even have a bed to crash :P

we do have a few belgium people here, so maybe you even know a few secret locations which are not common knowledge. any clue, any lead you have might be interesting ...

looking forward to some input and fellow travelers  :)
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

noone wanted to join the fun, but i went anyways - with two friends of mine  8)

well, what can i say: this country is indeed a mekka for urban explorers, unfortunately we only had three days. BUT still quite a few weeks before school starts again, therefore i will return at the end of august for more exploration ...

ok guys, just a select few, dont wanna spoil everything because i'm thinking about making a video! we did a LOT in three days, this is just a selection.

we visited old hospitals ...

... and abandoned castles, ...

... fairy tale castles which will soon be gone FOREVER, ...

... walked on railway tracks which had never been used, ...

... and stood inside a GIANT cooling tower!

of course i also flew my drone over empty military buildings ....

... and INSIDE the cooling tower! (can you spot me in the picture?)

that is, until i crashed it into a wall while trying to land in a tight spot!

i broke two propellers, the drone is still working (aka flying), but i'm having a problem with the live picture on my smartphone. working on solving it as we speak ...

Nice!
Check the great pictures from my friend Alain who is also into urbex:

He went to the same castle as you when it was still in one piece.

The basement was used for classrooms (there's a picture of it in the link) during summer camps at the castle ...until there was a fire in the building.

That castle, what a shame. As a kid, I was fascinated from every fortress and castle ( and yes, we also have a lot of them ). I understand that the coming generations cannot or dont want to put money into it to keep it alive. But that picture of the castle, its for me like the rotten or vandalized cab pictures.

i have just uploaded a short explanation video as to why there haven't been any new elektro arkade videos. in case you don't understand my german, here's the short version: my electrician has "run away".  :P

however, i've used the time to create a new youtube channel about one of my other hobbies: urban exploration. the channel is called THE LOST PLACE TAPES and here's what it's all about:

The lost place tapes show decaying abandoned locations in Germany and beyond which have been forgotten in time. They tell the stories behind those lost places in slow - sometimes even almost melancholic - pictures trying to make the forgotten unforgettable …

the channel has only been online for a few days now, so there's still not a lot of content there, but a lot of stuff is going to be added in the future. the good news for the guys who don't speak or understand german: i have added english subtitles so that you can follow my explanations (and subtitles are a pain in the butt to do to be honest). i'd be happy if you would follow my channel and subscribe there as well ... :-*

here's the link to The Lost Place Tapes YouTube Channel

AND

here's the link to Episode 1 - Hotel Muscle Club

Thanks a lot for your support, guys!!!

thx a lot, bela, happy that you are watching and that you enjoy the show. i'm still not one hundred per cent happy with the camera and the movements, too shaky, but that's what you get without a stabilizer - however, this is going to change soon, although the videos will stay the same for a while because i have such a huge back catalogue. it's amazing how many abandoned places are out there - and the variety of those. not just hotels, but basically everything you can imagine. stay tuned for some kickass locations coming up ...

btw, the intro and outro are getting a slight overhaul starting with today's episode ...  8) (i was not happy with the readability of the titles, so i re-did the design a little bit using a different software!
