Imola GP restoration
« on: April 06, 2017, 04:37:05 PM »
Blog thread here: http://www.vernimark.com/?cat=83

ears ago, Wiz (www.tilt.it) gave me this IMOLA GP. Build in Imola (IT) by Angelo Arena (Arena Games) or Bacchilega (both from Imola). Actually I’m not sure because main Board has “A.A.”  and score board “BACCHILEGA” printed on.

I shot these pics after  I removed most of the parts. Cabinet is complete even if graphics is compromised.

First to do list is:

- Monitor to be repaired (broken tube, modern Hantarex chassis)
- Pedal: rusted
- Coin door: broken (plastic) frame, missing parts, …
- Cash door: missing lock
- Speaker grid: ok, just dirty.
- Monitor fame: ok
- Monitor glass: ok
- Score glass: bad conditions, some parts are missing, printing is removing from the glass
- Side arts: both have missing parts, scratches everywhere.
- PCB: not working
- Power supply: original transformer is inside
- Control panel: ok, just dirty

First of all I dedicated my time to reproduce the corrupted graphics

This cabinet had been designed by “mike”, a famous graphic designer that signed a lot of Italian pinballs.

Good luck with the resto. I'm suprised the artwork is available for this rare machine :)

background parts are "mixed".

I replaced all video RAMs, checked the EPROMs through MAME and now I'm working on the buses from CPU to video RAMs. Once I'll receive the 81LS95 I'll continue to troubleshoot

I'm going crazy with this PCB...

anyway in the meantime I'm proceeding with the cabinet.
Cabinet had frontal damages so I had to glue  and close the breaks with putty.
Fortunately I found the same color (dark green) and so I decided to repaint the front side

First of all I used a primer and then the new color (in two steps)

Coin door and cash door...
as usual I disassembled all parts, cleaned, de-rusted and sprey-plated

Nothing to do with the control panel. it's in good shape and last time the game has been used it worked fine.
I just cleaned it.
