Did some work with the cabinet itself. This is how the side looked. The wood vinyl is under the black paint & with quite some work I might had been able to save it. Unfortunately that was out of the question since they had made a big hole for the bill payment thingy. So fuck them & off with the vinyl
Used my heat gun, it did the trick
As you can see their paint job is not quite something to have in your resumé. They seem to have thought "If I see anything on the cabinet that is not black, I will shoot at it with my black paint water gun & then let it dry".
The original G07 monitor was gone as well & replaced with a Hantarex MTC9000, which they of course had done some true handyman wood work to make fit in the cabinet.
In the back you can see Kralleman working on his Pacman Pin.
On the upper back board, by some miracle, they managed to not totally destroy the Atari metal decal. They had "only" drilled a small hole right through the decal & other places (for screws), drilled one large hole in the board to fit a padlock & ended their fine work by cracking the board in two pieces (because why not?).
While neither the decal or the board were in the best of shape, I still wanted to save it, so I cut a small board & attached it to then back of it to save the crack.
Used my best friend chemical metal to cover the holes & cracks (except the small hole right through the decal), some grind work & then some paint job
For some reason I didn't take a photo of the back board result so here's a photo from one of our "beer and monitor recap evenings" instead
