Howdy from Texas!
« on: March 31, 2009, 05:03:13 PM »
I happened upon this site when I was looking at Jason Finn's DL collection on the Dragon's Lair Project website.

I was having so much fun looking at everything here last night, I didn't realize that I'd been looking at pics and videos for over 4 hours!

Anyway, great site - I'll be visiting quite often.

I was checking out the other site (and this one), because I would so love to own an original/operation Dragon's Lair cabinet someday, and was trying to find out the best places to acquire one.  I'm not a technical person, so refurbishing or restoring one is pretty much out of the question.

Any advice, suggestions or the like is greatly appreciated.

Again - super fun site, keep up the great work!!

Steve (Orri~)
I came here to do two things, play some games and drink some beer.  Looks like I'm out of beer...

Thanks!

I would expect that some of the electronics would be newer or repaired/replaced.  I'm just looking for an original cabinet, rather than one that someone made themselves.

Thanks again!

Hi Steve, and welcome here  ;)

Very glad to hear that you're enjoying this place, thanks  :-*

I would so love to own an original/operation Dragon's Lair cabinet someday, and was trying to find out the best places to acquire one.  I'm not a technical person, so refurbishing or restoring one is pretty much out of the question.

Don't be afraid... refurbishing is not so hard... and you'll always have the help of other people, the arcade community is pretty cool & very helpful, don't worry  :)

Hope you'll enjoy your stay here  :)

Welcome to this board, Steve! This is one of the best with a lot of friendly helpful people. And don't worry about "cosmetic operations" or technical stuff, because
(a) there's always someone around to help
(b) this is one of the best parts of this hobby

once again: WELCOME  :spaceace:
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

Thanks guys - some sites have good info, but aren't a whole lot of fun.  That's what attracted me to the site - FUN!

As for refurbishing, I'm sure that I could do it if I had the time, means, energy, etc.  With two small boys and a demanding job, I simply don't have the time or desire to refurbish something from scratch.

I know it may sound lame, and I hope no one is bothered by this, but I would just prefer to get one in the condition that I'm looking for, rather than a big project.  ;D

Eventually, I'd love to own DL, DLII and Space Ace, as well as several other laser cabs.

I have four cabs right now, but none of them are laser games (or "classics" for that matter.)

Thanks again all!

Hello!  Welcome from me too!!   ;D

Where are you at in Texas?   I live in Dayton, just outside of Houston!

You should have no trouble, there is always DL's & SA's for sale in Houston.... I know were there are 1 of each right now..  Don't know their operating condition, but they definately need TLC.   Also check Craig's List.   Torture for me to look at, always great deals, but my wallet has been cavernously empty lately lol  :(   :D

Again, Welcome Aboard!

Thank you sir - spent a LONG time looking at your game room last night.  WOW!

I live in Round Rock, which is a suburb north of Austin.

I've been checking Craig's List, which can be good, but then I see this game or that game, and I want them all...

Can't do that though.

I think that what I've decided is every arcade gamer/collector has a TOP 5 or TOP 10 list in their head of "must haves", should money or space not be an issue.

Dragon's Lair just happens to be #1 on my personal list.

I see some of the collections here on this site of people who have several working, cosmetically beautiful DL cabs, and say, "Why do they have so many?"

What I really mean is, "Where can I get one of those?"  ;D

I can continue to be patient; after all, I'm 37, and have waited this long...  ;)

Peace,
Orri~
