1st UR freebee

It can still happen  :D
Yesterday when I drove home from work, I spotted something that looked like a penny pusher, when I turned my head back at the road, I saw something next to it and looked again... Quickly, I turned the car around and went to have a look at it...
It was very water damaged, and it had been converted to another game  :-[ .... So I left without investigating if it was up for graps...

Today at work I thought a lot about the cab, and decided to take it with me home, if it was up for graps. Went to the place, talked to the owner of a bike/moped shop - yes it was his game, he moved it from his storage container 7 days ago (!) but he didn't think anybody wanted it.... He asked what I would use it for, and I told him it was beyond restore, so I would properly take the parts, so he said I could take it no problem  :)

Enough talk, heres some pics of the carnage:

Left side, colors are pretty good, but the particleboard is cracked.

Right side, colors faded + vandalism...

Everything is pretty rusty, mayby because it´s been stored in a container..

New game, Virtus Bowling 1996 by I.G.S

PS pretty rusty

Monitor is salvable, but have a lot of burn in..

Ze sticker on the monitor

As of now, Im not going to restore it back to Rampage, though it´s a cool anf fun multiplayer game.
I thought about cutting (yes...) the Bally Midway logo out from the sides, and put them on the wall in The Shed somehow....
Would you restore it??
Etienne, I can take a close up pic of the FBI sticker if you like, but I think it´s a custom one...

-EDIT-
It plays blind..

Didn't play the arcade version yet AFAIK. The Atari Lynx version is a pretty fun game and I guess the arcade version should be better. It's a big cab....and this one seems to be needing a LOT of TLC.

Its always sad to see cabs in such shape...and sometimes it is just the end for them.

Holy shit, poor Rampage has gone through a lot of hassle. Like André said, sometimes it's time to let them go  :'(

Unless this game is your grail and you have plenty of ressources like money and time, I would not restore it.

Sometimes the cabs are to water damaged, but it's still a shame to part something up, but in this case it's sadly the only option.. I would very much like a Rampage some day, but it's no grail/must have game.
I'll post some pics from the funeral, and the bits that survived.

Still cool!!!
Free cab "on the curb" only happened twice for me... each time at the local dumpster
This is one of them

The other one was a Tomahawk 777 (repainted and...completely burned inside :))

The trackball on your control panel looks like it could be used in a Centipede.

I think it´s a Happ trackball, havent had time to investigate it further, only thing, it´s not rolling that well.... properly due to rust...

Wow! That cab seems to be in the same family as my Model Racing Mini universal cab which I recently made into an Arkanoid!

Can you give me a bit more info about it? Is yours full size? Does it have a name, a factory sticker or anything like that? Mine was a freebie as well by the way, so I guess it qualifies for this thread.
All I wanted was a Pepsi!
Currently looking for an original Wonderboy PCB.

Yes it's full size upright and I think made in Italy, I have a few more pics for you here:

Oh! Nice writeup, Chris! Haven't seen that thread before. Too early for me I guess. ;)
Do you still have it and do you use it? As universal cabs go, yours is one of the more beautiful I have seen.

Thanks Arch! Check out "Rastermania" early photos on Facebook, this cab now lives there and is used for exhibitions/meetings.
If I see another one around I'll let you know for sure!

Also to see this model in action on location back in the days, check the fifth post (by Gyruss) in this thread, the black and white pictures taken in Groningen in 1982 :)

Had some time on Monday to rip the Rampage cab, and it was in even worse condition than I thought... So stripped it, cut the sides for wall decoration.... maybe even bar decoration... I plan on route the pieces and put T-mold on them.... LMK what you think  :) (to be honest, it looks better than I imagined..)
