A belated hello from the UK
« on: May 17, 2014, 05:03:13 PM »
Hello all, I missed this area when I joined a few weeks ago.

Anyway, I'm Rory from the UK....I remember the arcades from way back when.... being filled with classic cabs and pinball machines. About four years ago I saw my friend's Mortal Kombat 2 and thought it was amazing but, it wasn't until last year that I decided to get my own. I spent 10 months looking for the right one and last month I finally got one. It's a Zaccaria Scramble, It needs to be brought back to life but, isn't in too bad a condition considering it has been stored outside in a lorry trailer since the mid/late 90's. I've already started to restore it and had some great offers and help from fellow Zaccaria owners on here.

Looking forward to chatting to you dudes and sharing photo's as my Scramble slowly comes back to life :-)

Rory.

welcome to a really nice community. :)
Looking for Dragons Lair 1 or 2, Space Ace, Double Dragon, Robotron and yeah... a Shinobi would be cool, too!

Thank you all for your warm welcomes. This forum has helped me so much....in such a short space of time since becoming a member. Everyone is super helpful and friendly  :)
I have posted a few photos from the day I drove it back and unloaded it. There's a mountain of work to be done and so far it's just filling and sanding so I won't bore you with those. Yesterday was quite exciting as I used some fine grade 0000 wire wool and some brasso on the old marquee retainers. They now shine and look almost new. I spent hours on them.  :)

That is excellent work, I need to do exactly the same job to my quasar/phoenix.

I'm in the UK too, so Brasso will be an easy purchase. I've been wondering what would take off the mottled effect and bring back the shine.
