After the pretty hot temps from last year Pieter promised to get a bigger airco this year....

He wasn't kidding. The guys setting this up had to do quite some work to let the pipe go over the fake ceiling into the "game room"...

After they fired it up I asked if that monster could also run on electricity instead of Diesel, man did that thing made some noise !

Thankfully we had the games, people and not in the last place the 80s and 90s music to over power the noise...and we hid it with a screen a bit :)

Loved this row.

Japanese arcade games at their best :)

The carpet looked so freaking awesome, it totally fit the games :)

Someone fell in love during the set-up......or maybe he was just a bit tired.

Oh and no, the machine was powered off, no rumble seat working here :)

One of the highlights for me was the Before Mario exhibition.

I knew Nintendo started with playing cards (Erik (not our CKONG), the owner of all this great stuff told me Nintendo is still the largest producer of playing cards in Japan) but I never knew they made all this stuff !!!

Was fantastic to see all those games, toys etc. etc.

This is the original Duckhunt :)

nice pics and explanations, andré! unfortunately, i couldn't make it, but i'm nevertheless interested whether this year's eurocade was such a success as last year's visitors-wise!
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

Yesterday we transported the vast majority of games that were still at Sound & Vision.
It went very smoothly.

So...with some machines still to be picked up/delivered home, this indicates the definitive end of Retro Game Experience 2014 for the crew.

It was a blast, we may be proud to have done something no-one has done before in our little country.

We had less visitors Ully. Two clear causes for this were that exactly this weekend there were no trains running from the Amsterdam area to Hilversum. Also, the weather was a little bit _too_ nice for an event like this.
The saturday was quieter than last year, the sunday was bussier. This was also thanks to the "Youth journal" on Dutch TV which had a GREAT item about the event. You could clearly see that there were a LOT of families with children the next day because of this...

It shows how important publicity is, you simply have to be lucky with that.

Still, we reached the goal of Sound & Vision in number of visitors and the visitors clearly showed they had a great time.

i would not mind to be there again next year. it was amazing... and the private party was somehow surreal. like beeing looked in a big mall for the night. i loved it.
Looking for Dragons Lair 1 or 2, Space Ace, Double Dragon, Robotron and yeah... a Shinobi would be cool, too!

;D It was....and that was also what did not make it feel like the early Eurocades....however much we tried.
I missed the cosy bar of the marching band clubhouse...and a damn stool to sit on after being on your legs all day instead of "standing tables"...

Well.......who knows what the future brings......but I think it's pretty safe to say that Eurocade (note....EUROCADE) will not return in the RGE shape/form next year.

How/if/when it _will_ return ? Of course we are already thinking of that  ;D

I would vote for Eurocade 2015 in Ridderkerk!

You guys did a great job to make RGE2014 feel more like Eurocade (Thanks again for this!) but to me it's still not the same. Don't get me wrong. I really liked both RGEs. Meanwhile I wouldn't even need cabs....meeting all you great guys is fun enough for me :)

I think Pieter would like to have less work/stress for the next Eurocade as well ;)

I totally agree with the last two postings :):)

Yes Erik.....the day kids stop liking these machines, they're doomed.....the machines I mean.

Look at those pics, apart from clothes and maybe hairstyle these could have been pics from the 80s :):):) that's how my brother and I spent our time at the camping-site arcades :):):):)

Here's another photo in that line of kids enjoying the machines....gotta love the looks on those faces :)

Thanks to Rinus711 for the pic !

I thought the Crazy Climber Cocktail was hilarious....it looked like the players were milking a cow when they played  ;D
