Mad Planets cabinet versions
« on: April 19, 2013, 06:08:26 PM »
I found what looked like a converted Mad Planets cabinet on one of my little road trips in Norway:

I never picked it up, but the cabinet style seems different than usual. Is it the same rare german type as Ully got in this thread?

I never picked it up, and I don't even know if it's there anymore. But will American parts (marquee, bezel, control panel etc) fit on this cabinet style?

nice, but unfortunately the control panel will definitely NOT fit (different design). can't say the same thing about the marquee and bezel though. how far is that from your place? can you go there again to check it out?
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

It's about 500 km from my place, so I can't really go there to check it out. But I still have the seller's phone number, so I can call him any time. And I know people who live in the area. But I'm quite sure it didn't have the original control panel anymore. :(

The CP is a _very_ simple one:

The spinner and knob should be available. The P1 and P2 buttons are no-brainers because the typical "german cab" buttons and should be available for sure.

Not sure about the joystick/handle...it wouldn't hurt to use a US one IMHO.

Too bad this is converted....I'd love it......it is such an underrated game....and one that needs the original controls all the way.....

Is yours already working again Ully ?

i'm definitely going to exchange those ugly german buttons for nicer ones. they just look wrong!

i do have a set of us handles, but they don't fit the interior parts of the german joystick, therefore i would exchange the entire stick!

unfortunately NO, put it back in storage until i've figured out my gameroom situation - which hopefully will NOT be NEVER ... :P
