Seeking: Bootleg SuperQIX; not for buying, but for a ROM dump...
« on: February 02, 2013, 12:42:48 PM »
Ok, my problem is this. I was trying to fix a bootleg SuperQIX with sprite errors. During this, I had one of the ROMs out of the socket (and forgot to dumpd it). Now the clown who fitted this socket, had soldered it in backwards. So when I put the ROM back, it was actually reversed resulting in it getting fried. As I didn't have a dump of the ROM, I was basicly screwed. I have tried all the different dumps in MAME, but can't find one that works on my board.

This is how the board looks

and the ROM in question is the one in the upper rigth corner; here's a close-up

The ROM is an 2732. So if you have this board, or one that looks like it, I would be very glad to get a dump of this IC. Otherwise, this board is just for the scrap-pile...

Hmmm untested you say. Any chance of you want to sell/trade it to me?

Hi, sorry that I haven't been that good at answering at all the forums...
I thank you all for all the good advise and help I've gotten on the different forums, but just now I actually managed to pull off myself.

I DID have the right ROM-image, I'd just been programming it wrong };-(
I'd used my Top2005+ to program a 2732 (Vpp=21V), and even though the software says it's capable of doing it, it apparently isn't... I'd also tried programming a 2764 (Vpp=12.5V) with the doubled image and then modified it so that the pins would fit the socket (maby I'd done something wrong there, cause that should have actually worked?!), but that didn't work either.

Now tonite I used my old ISA-based Sunshine programmer http://elgensrepairs.blogspot.dk/2012/08/scope-dead-but-new-old-one-acquired.html
(thnx Jarl for donating it to me), and that did the trick using the sq07.108 ROM with CRC32=d11411fb.

So lesson learned. Top2005+ can't be thrusted when programming very old EPROM (with Vpp > 12.5) that ought to be programmed with the classic algorithm (50ms/write).

Again thx all you guys, now I can get on with solving the sprite-problems };-P

...and ofcause I'll post a link to the rep log when it's done.
