The best part to me was sunday morning
The arcade in combination with the perfect music, some visitors and a good temperature

Hah yeah....for me it was when a certain band called Level 42 happened to come along on the music ;)

By the way, loved the music Etienne. I think I might need to have to copy those sticks of yours.......  ;D ;D ;D

The sound quality of the installation was awesome too. Love that.

Yes at some moments the heat went up in the room, of course having so many machines running plus a lot of people couldn't be battled by the regular air conditioning, and even the extra rented unit couldn't prevent it. However, it was way way way cooler than Eurocade 2011 at all times, and the extra big fan on top of the Space Invaders cab was a good idea on the  sunday...

For sure, we never expected so many visitors and at some moments people had to wait a bit for their turn on the machines. However, I have heard no complaints at all about this...I hope/think people accepted it.

From what I've seen the people were really awesome.

Every bit of fear we had about possible annoying people or maybe some cab slapping or food/drinks being brought in was without a reason.

Once or twice I had to ask people to remove a (properly closed, but still) drinking bottle, which they did and understood. Also had to caution one or two children who were waiting for the Afterburner, after all we worried a bit about their fingers with that huge moving cabinet. Lines were set-out, but you know how kids can be...not seeing the danger.

I have seen/heared absolutely no hitting or slamming of any cab at all.......people totally seemed to respect the games and I heard many people say they were so amazed that the machines were in such great condition still (so I explained that often a lot of hours and love went into getting them back like that).

Of course we had a good number of people asking if the machines were for sale, but no-one accepted my asking price of 50000 Euro for the Star Wars cockpit ;)

Seriously, prices may go up now  ;D ;D ;D   Maybe we'll see an effect like "King of Kong" had on the DK machines ;)

Damage report:

Set-up day:

-Break-out showed a problem making it unplayable. Voltages checked, no easy fix possible, no spare board. The machine was moved to Theatre 1 where it performed a beautifull roll as a decoration piece near the movie screen :)
-Star Wars cockpit showed resets during gameplay. First noticed +5V low voltage, upped it but still same thing happening. This is my main board set with the ESB kit. I suspect some simple contact or maybe shorting problem. Replaced PCB set with spare => ran totally fine without one problem during the entire weekend, and man it saw continuos action for sure, like in fact almost every single machine

Saturday afternoon:
-at the very end of the day Centipede showed jumping Spider and Archer. Turned off machine for the last hour or so. We replaced the PCB next morning, played fine ever since. Centi had some heat problems during the last Eurocade too IIRC. I think I should put some heat-sinks on the RAMs.

Sunday afternoon:
-Spy Hunter started showing sync problems. Machine shut down
-Asteroids button issues (when pressing fire also hyperspace was activated

There were also a couple of other small technical issues, all were solved by Robin and Etienne.

All in all, I think this is an awesome "score" for so many machines being used to their max for two days.

I want to thank the Eurocade crew for a fantastic event! We had a lot of fun playing the games and meeting people.
Indeed, arcade in Holland is not dead at all. I feel an arcade revival coming up :)

Everybody said it so well already, it was indeed EPIC. Huge thanks to you all for visiting us, helping us, and making this possible.

Also, my wife really enjoyed meeting and getting to know a lot of you guys (and girls of course), that was important for me too.

Anyway, I really can´t find the right words to describe my feelings about the last few days and I am really proud to be member of the Eurocade team, you are all good friends to me.

Tomorrow will be early again, the ´former´ RGE arcade room has to be cleared out, all dedicated cabs and candy cabs will be made ready for the victorious return (yeah, I know, bla bla) to their homes next weekend.

Game On!

I spoke with a lot of the visitors, and all of them said they had a great time and the arcade room was the absolute favorite.

It gave me such a proud feelling to see people enjoying my MK cab, that was for me the best thing of the weekend. And of course drinking beers with you guys :spaceace:

about the damage: I had to fix my (brand new) player 2 joystick twice, because this little ring that keeps it in place popped of.......once at day 1, ones at day 2. Thankfully Etienne has real good tie rips skills, for I didn'r bring extra ones ;D

yeah, I was pretty embarrassed, searched for the keys all week, but just couldn't locate the box with the extra CS stuff (and the keys) that was left over from the renovation...

ah well, too many buttons for most people anyway   ;)

Simply an amazing achievement: Beeld en Geluid proved to be the killer location for the event, an absolutely smashing combo!

Fantastisch gedaan mannen!

Cheers, Marco
Big thanks for providing the Computer Space and coming over Marco ! Despite the small control problem it had, people loved the cab for sure !!

Wanted: everything Universal , Stern and Gottlieb. Currently looking for Computer R3, Curve Ball, Goal to Go, Jungler, Fast Draw, Limbo, No Man's Land and Speed Coin.

Feel free to do so, they are still at B&G, i forgot them  ;D

Can you bring them with you ?  its a red and a blue 4GB USB stick

Anyway, just wanted to share my part,

I think it was a huge succes !

Like others already said, we could not have a better crowd, respecting eachother and respecting the machines

absolutely no problems encountered at all, everything went smooth.

Thanks everybody !

Thank you to all of you. This was absolutely great!
That feeling of walking into the arcade was just amazing, every single time I did it over the weekend.
Watching people play the games, playing games with people watching, man...even the times you had to queue to be able
to play a game was a experience in itself.

Meeting you people was exceeding my expectation, you guys are some of the friendliest people around!

And as for Andre, we will most definitely finish our two player game one day or another! Already looking forward to it!

I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to all of you in person (I tried!) but had to leave to pick up some (hobby related!) stuff
on the way back home. So thank you all for making this happen, I cant wait to see you guys again!

Thanks all for the meeting,

Even if my visit was rushed because of the kids, and was unable to participate to DLF only events . I couldn't recognize and greets all new members (next time, a badge would be good, or we come all with a distinctive sign like a cowboy hat ;) ) but i got enought time to feel the mood, greet some long time members and play some games.
Was great to see a arcade so full ;)  Star wars was definetly the favourite of my son.

On the way back, we finished the roadtrip at Burger king ;)

thanks all

Hi all,

I would like to thank the EC2013 crew big time. Guys (and girls) you did a marvellous job. Lots of visitors, lots of media attention. My kids loved being at EC2013 and even my wife found a game she liked... this DJ music machine....

I really enjoyed just walking around on Saturday and Sunday and just seeing people having fun playing arcade games. Saturday at the hotel I had a great opportunity to speak to many of the members from this great forum. Really nice to see so many of you in the flesh so to speak.

I hope you all got home safely.

again  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D THANK YOU EC CREW ;D ;D ;D ;D
