Welcome!  Very cool article.  :)

It was a bit tough to tell from the pictures, but was the 1901 a rebadged Philips CM8833?  I have one of those (Magnavox branded) I had considered adding Analog RGB output to, it's been a while since I looked inside, but I believe it had a space for a SCART plug as well.

The CM8833 schematics are easy to find. I think you should be able to add a SCART pretty easily.
