Lol! Z80 and 6502 clones from the former "red states". Please report if they work! would be an interesting alternative to the original ones.  ;D

UB880D is rated at 2.5MHz
CM630P is rated at 1MHz
Per this link at least .. http://www.cpushack.com/soviet-cpus.html

Latter would be be too little for most of the ATARI 6502A (1.5MHz) boards... fwiw

Bingo ! I bet Mrs. Caveman whispered that in your ear right ;)  (By the way, do say "Hi" from me, and remind her she still owes me a beer...... ;))

Indeed ! The UB 880 is from the former DDR and is the Z80 clone.
The CM630P is from Bulgaria and a 6502 clone.

Yeah I want to fool around with them a bit and they sure were a heck lot cheaper than the originals ! :)

I was pretty amazed to find out about these. I never knew that the former East block countries could produce these, I mean, at the same time they were also still making Nixie tubes and Trabants.....

It would be fun to have a US game running on an East-block processor :) Especially Missile Command comes to mind for some reason.... ;D ;D

Mmmm.....meeehhhh, overclocking is of all ages ;) I'll slap a huge heat-sink on them ;)

Seriously.....are there any design differences between the 6502 and 6502A, or are they (like the later Intel practice) simply tested at a higher speed and stamped "A" if they passed the 2 Mhz test ?

The first 6502 were not capable of 1.5Mhz, know that from own experience.
But try it  :D maybe the bulgarian ones are fine to overclock them by 50%

Hah, you smoked some original 6502's ?

Mmmm..... 50% is quite a bit to overclock....you tend to think: It's only half a megahertz...but in percentages it's of course pretty much.

Indeed all the (very rare) info I can find indicate 1 Mhz for the CM630P.

I did have my first success with one though:

I just converted my 6800 pod to a 6502 pod (simply a matter of changing the jumpers to the correct positions (regretfully meant a lot of soldering) and removing the 6800 and inserting a 6502.

First I tried the 6502 from the (not working) 6502 pod and it succeeded self-test on the 9100A :)

Then I _had_ to try the CM630P and well, again it passed the self-test :)

Don't think I will be running it in a critical thing like a Fluke pod, but at least

Belike
