« on: May 28, 2008, 07:05:07 PM »

In japan, Galaxian is a real cult game  : See the *amazing* story of Ikke and his friends and this beautiful GT-6 machine of course  8)

Note : the original story is in Japanese, but here's a quick resume of it (Ikke, Tom#2-JP & friends, please correct me If I'm wrong  :-*)

The original story in japanese is available right here.

Few words from Ikke first : "We and our friends are No.1 Galaxian3 fan group in Japan since 1993. My group own Galaxian3 Theater since 1995, We assembled it in April, 2008. There are one group who have GT-6 besides us. We own Zolgear Mission Upgrade, and sometimes plays it."

14 April 2008

It'll be in this local :

Some guys are already working :

All the team is here : approx 25 persons   :-*

The structure for the screen is done :

The three boxes of boards :

The six parts from the projection screen to assemble. Beware the colors on them ... all are different  ;)

Assembled !

The grid under the screen :

The front/down part of the screen...who is also a decoration :

The players seats :

The next day (?)

We are enough to lift the big parts of the theater :

...brainstorming... who to proceed now  ;D

The projectors will be fixed in this part :

The part 'GATE1' is on location :

...and the 'GATE2' too  :P

The main structure is almost assembled :

General view :

Caution : don't mix the wires here  :P

The main structure is done now :

Some adjustments need to be done here :

This part of the Theater is ok now. Let's work on the sides

We works on both sides of the theater... one item from the left side, then from the right, and so on

Now the electronics & wiring parts  :

The decorations can be set now.

Let's set the projectors...

Wrong colors because bad wiring  :?

Let's set the alignment between the two projectors

We working until having the right alignment between the 2 projectors before watching the game running  ;)

Plug the game... and

GALAXIAN3 finally on the screen  :-* :-* :-*

At this moment, all the people want to see it working  :o ;D

Pause  :P

The 'Galaxian desk  ;D

Some adjustments have to be done... let's see what happens :

Problems fixed... be ready for the first 'fly'  ;D :-*

This it it  8)

One word to all that team who worked so hard  on that theater : CONGRATULATION

Many thanks for sharing this story  :) I hope you'll add some comments here  :-*

Can I come to japan in order to see it (and play it) with my own eyes please and -most important-  meet true crazy Galaxian3 fans like you  ;) :)

I guess DarthNuno is pretty annoyed by now because his theater is still shattered in pieces everywhere. :-)

BTW Strange ... the theatre doesn't have a roof. Is this normal?

Don't worry, I'm sure he's patitenly Happily waiting to assemble his!!! :D

It does look like some of the roof is missing, as we saw Nuno removing the roof on his during disassembly.

Maybe they were unable to get the roof pieces, or they were missing when they acquired it??

I would say yes. On my GT-6, the previous owner used as a roof some '5 meters long' boards, through which he placed panels of wood/foam...

... and that 'roof' doesn't look to be something made by Namco ...

But of course I don't have any confirmation of that because I only know my GT-6 and now this one from Ikke...

All work was carried out on April 13,2008.
They spent it on assembling work for 8 hours or so.
(Why "They"? Because the physical condition was bad, I was absent at that time... :'( )

There is no roof in our GT-6.
I have not seen GT-6 with the roof.

However, because light from the ceiling is bright, the projector is
hard to see.
Then, we pasted the blackout curtain.

Thanks for the correction Tom#2  :-*

8 hours on assembling  :o Oppss ... We spent something like 2 x 8 hours or so  ...just to disassemble my GT-6. And it's supposed to be the easiest part for course  ::) :-\ ... ok, we were only two for doing the job  :P ;)

A Black curtain sounds like I good idea, thanks for the tip  :-* I had the idea to do the 'roof' like it was on my GT-6 before to disassemble it :

I'll try to know if this roof was 'custom made' or the official one from Namco  8)

Wooden roof may be not the official one. As I remember, no mention in Japanese manual and I've never seen it before.
Grating-like iron parts are just the official. I believe that those 6 pieces are only "roof" of GT-6.

It could very well be that it didn't have a roof for safety (fire) reasons....

I don't recall. I played it in London back in the early 90's. I remember the game clearly, but not the roof.... :D

Great thread, and to any Japanese readers here: Does anybody have a Samba de Amigo cab for sale overt here ? :D

I'm always asking where this Galaxian³ logo came from ? :

I thinK i got the answer  :P This logo is very similar than the one at the entrance of the GH-28, located at the 'Namco Wonder Eggs' theme park :

...but I'm not sure because the size seems different ?

Yes, these black iron parts are the official 'roof', as the manual mention them

Well, I just wanted to learn a thrid language. So I started on japanese. I think it is hard to learn (I got my problems with numbers and times/dates) but I'm trying.
I think, I wouldn't survive a day on my own in japan with my japanese skills, just because I can only read hiragana and no katakana or kanji yet.
