He´s a school teacher - they have like 53 holiday weeks a year.... 
I'm thinking of quiting teaching because of the holidays. It's now 1 week christmas, 1 week autumn, 1 week spring and 2 weeks summer. That kind of sucks. It is the 5 most expensive weeks, and totally 0 flexibility. In construction it was 1 week christmas, 3 weeks summer, 1 week to chose, and 12 days because you work 40 hours/week and you get paid 38. So that is at least roughly 3,5 weeks to choose freely.
