a childhood memory
« on: September 30, 2011, 09:26:55 PM »
Hello everyone!

Today I finally got to test my generic cabinet "Amidar" So Many Memories!

During the summer holidays in July and August (in the 80) We Were each year at Belgian coast.

It Was for us arcade Luna Park morning, noon and night  ;D

There Were up to 5 luna park but one was best for me "luna park Arizona"

I remember There Was a jukebox and wham "WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO-GO", U2 "NEW YEAR'S DAY", NENA "99 LUFTBALLONS" Turned in a loop all day thanks to us  :P

but what was the name of the game in black and white with two mexican cowboys?

and then also pleiads, Galaxian, Phoenix, galaga, donkey kong, kung fu master, olympic games and so much more ...

but he that touches me most it's "Amidar" the only game that I played with my mom  :-*

I had 12 years and tonight still have as much fun with this game, my mom spend this Sunday at home, I look forward

Berny

but what was the name of the game in black and white with two mexican cowboys?

euhh gunfight maybe ?

and dont forget to read the rest of the story  ;)

Nice story  :)

I have similar memories at the Belgium coast...
Yes, back in the days, there were many 'Luna Park' there. My favorite location 'on the B coast' was Blankenberge.
While my parents were on the beach, I spent all my time between my skate board and ... the Arcades of course  ;)
I played over there for the very first time these very special machines : Space Harrier *Deluxe*, Galaxy Force II ... and of course Galaxian3 : Project Dragoon, which is ... mine now  :P

Amidar is one of the best games ever made, I just played it before I read your post. ;D
I have 3 versions, original Konami (on the way from the Netherlands), Amigo and a Jeutel bootleg.
Btw. 99 luftballons was a song of Nena not Nina Hagen. :D

Oh man don't even get me started on my B coast arcade memories!
That's where it all started for me, The Reflex in Middelkerke and the other one on the other side of the casino.
I played some cool electro mechanical games with my grand father there, happy souvenirs of a time when everything was much easier.
I should pour some sand on my gameroom floor and make people wear cheap flip flops to make it more accurate.

electromechanical game!

I remember a helicopter at the end of a pendulum with two joysticks,

one to run faster or less and the other to move up and down.

all within a square window, as an aquarium...

;D a kind of "super cobra" Prehistoric  ;D

You gotta love that Midway Chopper!
Mine was Sega Killer Shark (the video doesn't really do it justice especially with the silly french drunk comments).
I was at the same time attracted and scared of this game.
