I read on KLOV that it's a good idea to increase cap C25 on the main PCB from 100uF to f.i. 470uF to prevent high-score resets.

So, I dug around in my parts box and found a nice Panasonic 105degr. Low ESR cap of 470uF....

Just look at that ESR value......incredible quality !!!

So quickly replaced the 100uF with this one...

While I'm soldering, let's get out the brand new monitor cable and "mary" that to the harness....

I had another look at the aux-panel and I noticed that the coin counter is a 6V type. That is weird as the power output for it is 20V....
I guess they hacked in a new one when they converted it to SF....?

Anyway, here's another paper sticker Etienne !

So, I decided to hook EVERYTHING up this time. I first undid the PSU hacks and measured all the voltages again: fine.

Then hooked up the sound-board -> "Hello, I'm turned on" and beep when pressing test button -> OK

Then power down and hooked up the main board....power up -> Nothing......no "Hello, I'm turned on"......damn !

I noticed that the +5V Led was really really dim. Switched off quickly and got out the DVM and did a short power up again, +5V is WAY too low....looks like there's either a problem on the main PCB or in the +5V PSU section.....

Well, Robin skillfully repaired this PCB and the only things I've "done" to it is replace the two caps.....weird.

I'm measuring about 370 Ohms between +5V and ground......does that sound OK ?

I think I found the problem on the Power PCB, the thyristor SCR11 (a MCR68-1) seems to be bad, at least I measure almost a short both ways between the anode and gate.

Maybe I blew this up when I tried the half-wave rectification....darn...

Of course I don't have one of those thyristors....can't find them either.

I wonder if it is very critical to have exactly the same one. I can find an 8A version locally (like the MCR68) but it has a voltage rating of 600V instead of 25V....not sure if that would be a problem, I don't think so really...

The material is weird, it seems like a stack of papers pressed and glued together...is that MDF ?

Once there was a Q*bert PCB set there....before the cab went through it's "dark days" as......<horror> StreetFighter......well at least that _DID_ make the cab survive

Luck is with me: I won't need the 4 studs for the filterboard anymore since I eliminated that and I need a couple to replace broken/bad one's on other spots

Label is still nice.....sadly when I barely touched it it broke off from the staples (ARGGHHH!)......

Removed the PCB board holder board ()....The alufoil board is meant to shield the electronics. I've seen pics that this is only half of the board and there was a part also covering over the PCBs. (great, more heat). I can see there are still staples from that alu-foil board but as on most Q*bert it's gone. I don't mind though.

Backside of the "PCB board-board".....luckily everything is screwed with the usual hex screws so I can move the studs where I need them.

I removed all the studs first to clean up the board a bit, but I'm not going to do any hefty stuff on it....

Nice to have them like this now...easier to work with too

It was funny that even the harness support clamps where still around the harness and in the correct spots to screw them back on

I think I'll add one or two supports where the filter board used to be as there is no support for the pretty thick bunch of wires there now.

Just to be Anal, i have gained alot of experience with reproducing decals, and the correction to apply here and there, but this is photographed under a pretty nice angle.

Could you measure the distance between the left of the decal and the start of the letters ?

I assime its centered, but as you can see, when i copy the arrowed line to the other side it looks that the distance on that side is shorter.

anyway, based on the start of the decal i can figure it out, but if you can, provide me the distance please
