Today, I went to a shop to buy a step down convertor.
Then I could test the new cab with an old us power cable.




and ....
Absolutly nothing. no picture, nothing.



I check the voltage on the monitor and ok 115 V and behind the marquee ok 115 V too.
the monitor is dead  :twisted:

I do not have spare for the 115V bulb, -- > 220 V for testing


Let's go to my basement to retrieve a NOS monitor that I got a few years ago.



the old monitor removed

Burn with galaga AND Qix  


it's a POLO , I must  make some changes to put in the galaga cab.



Ready to test  :D


In the cab




I check the pinout of the amp's connector from the PCB to monitor



AMP 6      
      
1 Red      
2 Green      
3 Blue      
4 Sync H & V   
5. Ground      
6.

AMP 3

1 +12V
2 Ground
3.       

The new Monitor has the amp universal 6 connector but with separate sync and no AMP 3 12V to the video PCB.
Here is the status with  ; no separate Sync and no 12V to the PCB video.



I have the background of the game with colored dots..

in fact :

after brainstorming and test
the amp connectors from the old monitor are :

AMP 6
  
      
1 Red      
2 Green      
3 Blue      
4 Ground x2
5.      
6.

AMP 3

1 Sync
2 Sync
3.      

with correct wiring I have this now

pretty 0 and 9  :-[

After adjusting the 5v, I retrieve the sometimes the background of the game.

or other pretty numbers letters and  like J022 020 ...

no sound but we can regonized the ship :) (see right)


Another good news the marquee was dead too.
Someone recover the back with.. i don't with what :shock: .. but it's pathetic when the light is on :!:

clean the PCB, all contacts and chip
with that


it's better now but no sound

 RAM OK   :D

really good news, i can add credit  8) the backgroup move now
Let's try to remove some chip and clean them very carrefully.

I can believe it !


Now i must rotate the monitor  because i do not  find any switch on the pcb to do that.

but i'm afraid to switch off the cab (like the breakout a few days ago)
I must rebuild the panel too.

A few mn later, the monitor is ok




After a fast rebuilt the panel too and just to have fun  :wink:



the pcb should be still cleaned ;  starting is difficult

a lot of work on it to be 'Hi compatible'  ;)
need to find NOS CPO, a new marquee & T-molding; black paint & some wood filler.. and find the right place.

And a have another big project pending, you know ...
