After messing around in panoramafactory i was happy with the stitching result, but something strange happened to the colors  :-\
So i decided to call in for help, since Ully did a great scan and stitch on the Vindicators sideart..
He told me he used another program, and that it worked very well  :)
So i gave it a go, and indeed the stitch is perfect and the colors are preserved  :-*

Here an example of the two different programs:
the first is with panoramastudio, and the second with panoramafactory
I dont know what went wrong with the colors, but basicly the 2 programs do the same  ???

Then i started to look at the options of stitching all together in one go, but that did not work out well as you can see here  ;D

The program assumes foto's so it calculates focal length and bold lens to compensate..
so i needed to use the option "document stitch"
after creating panorama's from each row of scans, i rotated them all and repeated the process with these rotated pictures

After a long time of rendering, a nice and clean hires sideart picture rolled out my laptop  ;D

Thanks to Ully for the Super(Ully) tip  :spaceace:

After creating a new document with the correct dimentions, i can start with creating the outline of the cabinet
First create circles with the right diameter..

Then color them to see better what i am doing  ;)

Okay, looks like it is one nice path after some seriouse stitching, cropping, splitting and merging  ::)

exchange the fill with transparent, and make the stroke black..

i copied the outline and flipped it so now i got the left and right side as a template

It looks like i need to bend and shape the ck picture a bit more...  :-\

anyway, not today  :D

if anybody has a better shot of the sideart, i am very interested !

Okay, now we have the outline..
Time to check the accuracy.
I squeezed in the scan and schrinked a bit so i can still clearly see the outline.
it is there for reference how to paste the paper together, because i did not know how illustrator calculated the pieces
First i printed it at my job on A3 paper, and here they are..

Looks like i got this puzzle complete  ;D

Masking tape time  :P
Now i learned that illustrator did a good job on splitting the image for printing in tiles..
no overlap, just paste them straight to eachother..

After pasting them together, i cut it to shape..

Look honey , we got new wallpaper  ;D

I went to my mothers where the cab is located to check the size..

I have measured and stitched the scans good, it fits exactly !  :spaceace:

Now i can start with the artwork and use this outline as a template..
as you can see in the original artwork, there is a margin at the edges which i will also insert in the new artwork.
Then i will make the outline bigger so i have a stroke that is over the edge of the cabinet which i can trim off later after installing...

Lets hope this idea works...  8)

there  is a way with illustrator to have the puzzle parts printed with some references marks that will allows you to stitch the papaers easily and accuratly.

I'm not really helpfull, I've done it in the past, but I can't remember how to do. maybee our common friend google will be helpfull
