These things were standard equipment at about every arcade I visited back in the 80s. Pretty fun, but I preferred putting my money in a "real" video game then. I'm interested how these work, although I think it will be pretty similar to Nintendo's gun game.

that is basicly the same door, it just has only 1 coin shute instead of 2

Looks like you need to print the sidearts as well then and "carpent" the two sidepanels as well  ;)

Re: The cut-off top... "What could be the reason behind this?"

I'd guess that it was too tall to fit somewhere, likely in the ops van, or the top got damaged/broken off.

Nice artwork :)

Paul.

At least they lined it out nicely with the top of the cab..... ::) ::)

Anyway, i still love this little butchered cabinet, and it can be fixed...

Next up: cleaning the cab

Would look a lot less obvious if you take off the metal rails and use T-molding along the top instead. Looks like almost all of the side art border may be there under the rail so it's really not far off looking good ;)

Did they do a matching Phoenix cab, I wonder? If they did, it'd make a nice pair.

Hahahaha, that would be awesome.  ;) ;) Thanks about the t-molding advice, I'll try that.

actually, this cab just uses molding - without the T. no slot there, just flat molding. t-molding.com carries that stuff! as for the sideart: i'd say no need to scan / print them, they still look good and will be fine with some minor touchups!

as for the top the question is: leave it like that or try to re-insert the missing triangles?

unfortunately NO! at least not to my knowledge. however, i hadn't heard of that pleiads version before bruno came up with his, so perhaps there is a spanish version out there somewhere ...
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

If i had your skills, patience and craftsmanship i would fix it. But i don't, so that has to wait.
For now i'll be happy with a working monitor, new front art and t-molding without the t.  ;)
Plus it will be sandwiched between two cabs, so it won't bother me too much!

Have you guys (ully & Bruno) got the manual of cab?

thx, but it's all a matter of trial and error! pleiads was my first real restoration and i made some rookie mistakes back then. everything is doable, it's just a matter of how much you want it! :spaceace:
