Great job ! I understand now why it was so difficult to move it

Sure it's a lot of work but for a fantastic vintage game  8)

Indeed.

the wood having moved the cab was placed on their sides and not on its wheels. this explains thoses...

Edit : 12.10

A little preparation

and Bondo Time !
Here in France named 'Sintobois' one box for one corner..

Meanwhile after primer earlier this week (this color reminds me of the "m110" used as a primer on the boat when I worked in ship/submarine repair)

to pass the time

30 minutes later

Today I had planned to work oustide to replace the base of the cockpit, but the weather was not good today.

Anyway, I spent a loooot of time to adjust to the plywood base.

Some pictures taken today

I plan to cut that little part, make anoter one and replace it.

Another part to replace old one. x2

Here

I must check if it is ok before fixing.

Now the cab is no more **naked**  it's better

much better isnit it ?

yes still naked :) but not totally so about that, did you find time to check the Deflection Board & HV board ?

For now I am waiting to receive the sides from Rich before installing the screen for example.

Restoring wood yes  :D when I can or when it is possible, so not everytime. Maybe more expensive and take longer to repair rather than replace.
Today, a bit of painting.

Before too lazy to remove the rivets  :-\

very quick protection.

Then Primer

After 2 hours black paint

With the camera we can see the colors of the primer that we can not see with the human eyes.

No problem 2 nd coat of Black paint  ;D

Work with the router yesterday.

The first one (hole) was not so bad

next ... worse.

I have to go several times and then. Perfect !

Otherwise, I knew I had still a lot of work but what remains is really disgusting !!

Look at this... did you know someone who can do this ?

Do you understand ?

The real size/form of a sw cockpit.

Why did they "cut" this cab!!!!!!  :o :o :o ??? ???

Maybe you can keep it as it! We already have mini-upright cabs (cabaret), you can introduce a new style: "cockpit cabaret"  ;D

Ouch! From whom did you get that cockpit by the way? I mean for an operator or someone else?
I can see only two reasons : cut to fit a special location, or cut to hide 'damaged' edges...  :ghost:
Fortunately it can be fixed, but it adds additional work you didn't need at this point  :-\
Good job and don't give up!

II do not have enough time to work on it as much as I would like, but when I have 30 minutes I have enough to keep me busy.

Just for the fun with the new canopy plexi set /
Still lot of work on the wood - and add a small piece on the bottom.

If I really want to know in what condition is the wood, Imust be removed from the art.

beginning with the small part

...

The cockpit loses its charm.

I can start now..
Bondo time !

Just check now if i can replace the bottom of the Cab.

Sanding with the dremel and recovery from another part

It's crazy how long it takes   :spaceace: :spaceace:

the cockpit can now stay on its four wheels :D

This is confirmed.

Black Vinyl (Oracal 651) is not strong enough at least to the seat - the horizontal part  - because the other part is black FORMICA.

I have to find another supplier I'll let you know if what I think works.
Undo...

I hope I finish in 2013

I also wanted to remove the two upper parts.

Currently I have not yet succeeded

I removed  5 screws
3 here

Another one

And the last here

Any idea ?

Hi HI!

When i assembled mine, i noticed that there where some glue on the pieces where they joined on the finished cockpit....

There´s some glue in between the 1st and the 2nd piece (where the arches meet the base so to speak.. (the arches is made of 3 pieces of MDF, an inner, middle and the outer one which in theres cut holes for the artwork)) the screws are just there to be sure it didnt move.

Also here between the canopy "beam" and the piece coming up.

I would use a crowbar (!) and gently!!
