What you need to emboss your serial numbers is a good old Kingsley Pneumatic Press
http://www.furnacemfg.com/vinyl/vinyl-records/foil-stamping.html
There are some on ebay US atm but it's pretty expensive (starting at 135$)...
You could also only buy the letters put some ink (or a sheet of decal letters) on it and emboss them using a small hammer...

This is the IBM "ball" I'm talking about:

I think a light tap with a plastic hammer on the opposite of the proper letter should work. These are pretty thin stickers....

Like i said before, if you got a particular "alusticker" that you would like to see reproduced, now is the change, i can make it and integrate it in the run
just send me the details and i'll vector it and put it on the sheet

when do you need to have this? i'm going to check my cabs at the weekend, is that good enough?

Sure no problem
just remember, scans, or "straight shot" and measurements please  ;)

Hey Andre:

Ik weet niet of een van die type in de buurt komt ??

if not, you can try a search for "daisy wheel"

That machine that chris is talking about looks good too, although its a bit expensive  ;)

i'll be using an old typewriter for the letters. my austrian friend alex has had some nice test results, i'll ask him what he used exactly!
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

Interesting...one of the balls is unmarked....I can't see it really well on the pic, but it looks close....I dropped him an e-mail to ask for a close-up shot of that one....

The courier might work as well. It comes pretty close to the Bookface font but it's not 100%. I found a Bookface ball in the US but not sure if they ship to Europe.

Also Etienne, why do you think the stickers will wrinkle in an actual typewriter ? Is the material too thin maybe ? Not doubting it but I'm really not too sure.
It's been ages since I've last touched one, but I think the IBM's should have a pretty good transport mechanism....
Only problem is that it's another bulky machine in the house....

If we use the IBM letterball "by hand" we have to set up a table of which letter is exactly opposite to the one we want so we know how to position it properly ;)

dont know it for sure that it wrinkles, im just affraid of it  ;)

what i do know is that the sticker is aluminium, and as you can see on the picture, it is tending to stay "curled"..

this was with the "protection" loose, so maybe you can straight them again in the middle of a thick book

what i do know is that it is easy to insert dents..  so use caution when you are inserting the letters

I can say that i will not enter the letters for you guy's (i also dont have those letter punches  ;D)

i have a sample here, so if you like i can drop it at your place , so you can experimentate with it..
and if thats not enough, i will take 2 or even 3 sheets of this at the supplier, just in case one screws up  ;)

I'd love to see a sample. We can even compare to the real thing.

I scored an IBM selectric with a load of balls for 10 Euro ! My wife is going to kill me....

Oke, its defenetly on, so i will create a new topic for the "Alurun" soon

For now , i just want to update you guys, i have made a vector file with the size of the sheet that i have and that is going to the printer.

I have to make 5 millimeters around each sticker, so i can cut them after the printing.

I am using a group per sticker and to keep track of which is which i named the group with the information i got:

For the Atari stickers i don't need to do that ofcourse, since the serials are not printed..  ;)

the first ones that entered the show are ofcourse the Zaccs  ;D

......... The VAN logo was amazingly exactly as wide as the Atari sticker IIRC.

The VAN logo is adjusted with the correct dimentions..
