Uhh... oops !

Sorry I was assuming Rich did these silk-screened because he usually does ? Kinda weird. I'd assume there will be plenty of takers of a good silk-screened Galaxian set ?

What a coincedence, only a few days ago I thought of sending Rich an e-mail to ask him if he has Galaxian artwork (wasn't on the site at that moment), and now he has!  :D

Too bad he doesn't have the CPO (yet).

Anyway, he is cheaper than Gameongrafix ($ 150 vs $ 185 for a full set), but is it better? What do you guys think?

Another thing, I noticed that Ramcontrols is selling sideart for a SW cockpit since recently. No full set though. It is silk screened, would that mean that Rich started to produce side art for the SW cockpit? (Ramcontrols is getting the SW artwork from TOG)? Well, better send him an e-mail I guess.

Rich just answered why he went ink-jet and I understand:

If my side-art was as bad as this (or f.i. CKONG's Galaxian) I'd order this in a heart-beat...

You can also order the kickplate only, I just did ! There was a package from Rich heading this way anyway so..... ;)

The bug's eye on the repro looks different than the original. Also, clearly the original artwork appears to have two shades of green and the repro appears to only use the same shade of green for all the green in the art.

If my side-art was as bad as this (or f.i. CKONG's Galaxian) .....

Don't agree!  :)  I just checked some high res pictures of my cab and I think my side art still looks pretty good, much, much better han the side art from Rich's cab. It has yellowed somewhat, but I will get rid of that.

The kick plate art though could use a replacement, so I might get that from TOM. But is his vinyl structured or not?

pretty sure it is NOT. i've had some talks with rich about textured white vinyl because i found that damn expensive stuff from 3M - the only version he could come up with didn't have any adhesive on the back ...

About the bug eye, I just checked some pics on the internet, and to me it looks like the art on the left photo isn't original. The bug eye in the repro is like it was original. There are more differences in the 'original' left picture which doesn't seem right, for instance the solid black on the rock's edges in the grass. So I guess the art on the left picture is a repro also.

And you're right about the shades of green, original there are at least two shades of green, which doesn't show in TOG's repro.

No, the one that Robin has is unique. This is the version as it pictured on the flyer:

Robin's serial nr. is 176 so a VERY early one (30000 made). Even mine that has serial nr. 815 has the "regular" side-art so they changed it very fast.

The main difference is the blue being also in the lower part of the Galaxian name and the dot on the i is NOT green.
I'm pretty sure they changed it because the name kind off "falls away" due to the blue background. The white in the name makes it more clearly visible.

I've never seen another Galaxian cab like Robin's.

About the vinyl, if you'd clicked the link I provided and read what Rich wrote you'd know so here it is again:

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showpost.php?p=1365715&postcount=9

So no structure. I regret that, but I've learned that restoring classic arcade machines is a matter of compromises. And I can live with this one.

I would also like to know where you guys see the two different shades of green because I am VERY sure there is only one.
Remember how the silk-screen process works, very little chance they took the effort to do two screens to get two shades.
I guess it's just because of the aging of the side-art.

The bug's eye is quite simply damaged on Rich's original...check the other pics of original Galaxians.
