Importer (A licky boom-boom down) ??
« on: September 19, 2010, 02:21:57 PM »
When I read topics like that monitor group buy, the Nintendo bulk buy and when I see the way people from DL's fans are always helping each others, I can sense the force is strong amongst the members here  ;)
Seriously, that led me to thinking: Why couldn't "we" gather up and import a container of cabs from the US ourselves?
I think this would be the absolute cheapest way of getting great cabinets.
Since we all trust each others, we could team up and divide the tasks and all the costs once the container arrives in Europe (collecting, transportation, storage, dispatching).

The only thing that is missing is somebody "over there" to arrange the group buy and shipping... of course somebody who would do that just for the love of arcade gaming (or for a few cabs) -> If any interested american members read this...

I know I'm still the new guy here, but I'm sure we could do it.
What do you think of the idea? Does that sound crazy to you?
It's a looot of work and time but that could be the beginning of a great and exciting story imho.
Yes we can!

It died, in beauty  :'(

But still, here I am, less than a year later, with some great machines in my collection, all from around Europe.

But if you really want to pull this off, then you can count on my help. I'm still in need for some rare games like Tempest, Robotron and Black Widow (and a lot of others.  :D )

Ooops, I'm very very sorry, I didn't know that this had already been talked over and tried here.
Thanks for the links I'll read that carefully.
If I ever find somebody over there who I can trust 100%, I will all let you know for sure.
The best would be for me to go there for a few months and make contacts, that would be the absolute dream job  ;)

The point is it isn't cheap. You have to find the cab's in the state have somebody to pick them up for you and ship them for you. and you have to pay shipping cost. it isnt gone be a 300 euro a cab deal if you want specific stuff.
