But, is that including saving games and restarting from a good score ?

nope, its even verified by twingalaxies, the image is from theyre website  ;)

its the mame version allowed by them, no pause possible

@muerto: sure, in anotherway you'll need too many categories
i mean people can read right , and DK = DK  8)

the only difference is i am using the japan romset (wich have the IMHO "normal" level sequence)

My top score on DK is 284,200, which I achieved about a year ago (May 29th 2009). Sadly I don't have a recording or picture to prove it anymore, I had a picture on my old webspace but apparently I didn't save it anywhere else... ???

Haven't played it regularly in the last year but I'm working on it again...
Donkey Kong - 284,200 points
Swimmer - 40,950 points

I got to the kill screen a few times. Unfortunately no picture or recording of it. Thought it wasn't a great deal until I saw the KoK documentary. Have been planning to do it again since then, but unfortunately no time for it.  ;)

Heh, I'm pretty sure there have been a good number of people who reached the killscreen "back in the day" or more recently and who went "what the hell" at the game and just quit or whatever because they didn't know what happened or its significance. I think the King of Kong was an eye-opener for a lot of gamers and has certainly revived interested in the classics, and especially DK. For example, Hank Chien, the new DK arcade world record holder (<boast> who I had the pleasure of meeting a few months ago </boast>) got (back) into DK because of the King of Kong.

Anyway, I think that if you have the ability to get a killscreen/million points in DK, you should definitely go for it. I hope you can take some time for it. :)

hehe..
I think Ckong is joking with you  ;)
however, Steve Wiebe reached the Kill screen in his early days playing DK, but he though that there was something wrong with his machine, så he just let it go....!!!!!

Hey, it's plausible. As I said, I think there are more than a few people who had that happen before it was widely known what it was. I've read about a couple, at least.

Also, huge news: Dean Saglio has scored 1,136,400 on DK in MAME. Go to the CAGDC forum thread for more information and a link to the video.
