BUBBLE BOBBLE almost there .....
« on: July 27, 2006, 10:49:29 PM »
I'm very close, to own a Bubble bobble pcb  :D
that one of my favorite game EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!
i spend hours playing that game on my old (amstrad cpc)
and a few extra on M.A.M.E....

For some reasons the pcb is a bit hard to find, few time saw it on ebay, but it always pass the $200 mark

one time i found one from a collector, but he got a bit greedy and try to sell it to me for $399    (yheaaaaaa right....)

last week i finally saw one for a good price, but at risk  :?

the seller as only 2 feedback on ebay    but he list the pcb as working with wiring harness AND marquee

i know that i score a few good deal from minimum feedback ebay member.. ($25 for a golden axe 2 )

just hope everything get ok with that deal.

next step , will be to build a jamma loom , it should be easy coz the wires are already there ....

that the picture of the auction.....

BUBBLE BOBBLE  :P  :P  :P

It's common to see the modern adapatation pcb on ebay : Bubble Memories, Bubble Symphony... but very uncommon to see the orginial 86' pcb at a raisonable price   :?

I remember playing it at the time  :) , but I honestly can't remember if the game was in a dedicated cab'  :?

On Klov, there is a picture of a Bubble Bobble cab' :

... but I don't know if there was a true dedicated cab...

Anyway, it's a true classic  :D  I hope you'll catch it.

DO you have a generic cab to put it in    :?:

bubbe bobble was sell as a "convertion kit"
i never saw an original cab, even after intense research on the net...

i'm in the process to get few "double jamma adapter" so some cabs will have some hidden games

easy to switch games, just by pressing player 1 & 2 at the same time....

1942 & 1943 will be the first one.

another one very soon will be kung fu master & vigilante, in the same cab.

bubble bobble will team with tetris  :D

i will post more details later about this double team games  :D

I'm thinking about doing the same job with my Xevious cab, who's running a jamma Namco Collection 1 pcb (Xevious, Galaga & Mappy /  original + arrangement versions )
I plan to get the Namco Collection 2 ( Pac Man, Dig Dug & Rally X /  original + arrangement versions ) and use a double jamma adapter like you  :o
Is it expensive ? Where to buy it ?

By the way, I remember to see these cab' with two games inside, but it was a manual switch, close to the coin door...

well, mike's arcade sell it.. a bit expensive, but all the cables are there :)

on that one you have 2 choices:
-press player 1 and 2 at the same time to change games (no need of extra buttons)

-or install a button to switch games, directly from a pin on the jamma harness....

http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=DBLJAMMA

this include 2 (1/2) foot jamma cables...

i use to know somebody who sell them cheaper , but he doesnt include the cables.
i just contact him to see if he has more .....

and that one, is going to be for my double dragon cab

8 games in one cab

8) i just got it last night ...

the marquee is in perfect condition, and the pcb look ok.
i love the logo on one of the chips...
i tried to start the jamma loom, but i was surprise to see so many connectors

usually most pcb have 1...

on the part side , you have a 44 pins connector (for the controls)
on the solder side, you have ANOTHER connector, this one is 36 pin (most of it is +5 and gnd
and also on the pcb a molex 12 pins connector, for +5/+12+and -5....

i will post some pictures later....

hope it work  :|

The good new is that your pcb has standart voltage +-5 and +12V...

The bad thing is that you'll have to do several 'custom' wires  :?

...take your time, do a clean job (like you already for your other games    ) ... and that Bubble Bobble pcb will rise again... at the ArcadeFever's Lair :P  :P  :P

Wanna see it runing soon INSIDE the cab'  :o

  wowwwwwwwwwww
that was the most tricky jamma loom i ever done. so many cables and connections, what a nightmare

first the pcb, look at that logo  8)  is that cool or what ?  :o

this is the  pcb and jamma loom i build:

here you can have an idea of what is going on
3 connectors :
1 for the controls
1 for +5
1 for the power +12 -5 and some +5v of course

you can see the 44 pin connector the 22 pin and 12 pin

here you can see on a better angle the tones of cables to make that sucker work    it look like a SPACE STATION

took me so long  :| ...

and ?

:D  yheaaaaaaaaaa it work ... wowwwwww that sweet  :P

i will post some pictures of the game later...

WOw

That pcb is beautifull :

...the TAITO chip with the character printed on it,  :o  that pcb deserves to be framed on your Gaming Room   :P

What a job you made to wire it    How many time for doing all the job ?

I know "that" beautifull moment, just after hours of work, when you plug all the thing and... it works  :P  :P  :P

Congratulation  :!:
