:: BARCADE - When Bar & Arcade unites *the tour* ::

Barcade is a bar in Brooklyn / New York featuring more than 25 vintage arcade games from the 1980s and draft beer from local and regional microbreweries.... The bar was opened in 2004 in a former metal shop and won immediate acclaim for its unique combination of vintage arcade games and rare American craft beers. Sounds good isn't it?

Well, I'm in New York... I love bar ... I love arcade...so impossible to miss the BARCADE visit... head on to Brooklyn, very easy... thanks to the New York City Subway

Just in case... no drinks outside... no problem, I'm here for the games  



It's a bar... very dark... good for the ambiance  





I'm choosing a table... right in the middle of the room... so I can have an eye on all the games    



Of course, I'm trying the special beer here    



...and I'm ready for trying the games here   I just need quarters... follow me  



I'm here for the fun... but ... I would like to score on my favorite games... for example this Galaga

... there's not a lot of people right now... because it's very early I would say...





This is clearly not the kind of place for Darth Nunette : Rock music ... loud volume... beers ... LOL   ... but she's alright ...    



OK, from this point I decide to get some fun... Because I want to play the game, I give to my wife the mission to take pictures of the cabinets... she's a real pro for that now    So, here's what you can play here :

Now THAT is an arcade lifestyle vacation : Funspot, Funworld, Barcade. Those 3 locations are definitely on my list when I'm visiting NY in the future .

Nice bar, there must be a good atmosphere when it is a bit more crowded. Does anyone know of such a place in Europe, I mean with classic arcade games?

I went there when I was in NY last February... I'm not 21 yet, but I got "smuggled" in by Ben Falls (ex-Moon Patrol wr holder, D2K wr holder, official 4th place on DK) and Hank Chien (current DK wr holder), who frequently go there. I didn't dare to order anything, in fear of being thrown out, but I don't like or drink beer anyway so that wasn't too much of an issue. Played some DK, Moon Patrol, Crystal Castles, Marble Madness, Tetris, Centipede ... before I had to leave early because I was flying back home the next morning. Had a great time though, really fun place and had the opportunity to hang out with a couple of fun people.
