Play Belgium / Game On
« on: December 22, 2009, 12:29:02 AM »
So today I was lucky to get a sneak peak at the Play Belgium / Game On exhibition which opens officially tomorrow in Brussels.

The location is pretty neat, the selection of games is interesting. Obviously, if you've got a bunch of classic games at home you won't be as amazed as others but it's still worth a visit, if only for the atmosphere. The lighting is pretty low, which isn't always obvious on the photos, and helps.

It's actually more than just "Game On", it also includes workshops from schools on game design, 3D etc. Also other applications for game technology like medecine. Maybe not as interesting to the classic arcade collector but probably more attractive for school visits etc.

Some photos below. The whole series is on flickr

Due to the lighting (and my basic photography skills), it was difficult to get great shots but it should give you an idea.

Well that actually looks better than I expected !!!

NAMCO PUCK MAN !!!!!!

That alone is good enough for me !

Do you think they will notice if I switch it with my bootleg PuckMan ?  ;D ;D ;D ;D

So, when are we going ? Until when does it last ?

Could be a nice x-mas meeting spot ;)

I love the setting, it goes REALLY well with the games !

Thanks for the ride liquidx  :-*

The games are mostly the same than the ones I've seen in UK, but I really like the way there are displayed here  :) Brussels is only two hours from here, I'll definitively check this  8)

Very good pics liquidx, I can feel the atmosphere. I sure want to go there some time soon. The show is there for 4 months, so until 18 april 2010 (18 october 2010 as mentioned on the website can't be correct). As said before, this would be a nice occasion for a group meet.

website: http://www.playbelgium.be/en/index.php

Let's go to the event together. I am willing to organize something if there is enough interest:

- we gather at a pub
- after some time we jointly go to the event
- afterwards we have a meal in a restaurant (Italian or something like that)
- the diehards can go and get drunk afterwards  :D

Exact times will follow. Everyone gets and pays his own ticket (€2 discount if you buy it over the internet), pub and restaurant costs will be split over the number of heads. We have to pick a date. Let's say on a Saturday (opening hours from 10 AM to 9 PM). I suggest 3 dates:
- 23 Januar
- 6 Februar
- 13 Februar

Who wants to come, with how many and when?

I am in for one person, preferred date 6 Februar (1) or 13 Februar (2).

The UK originally I believe. The Star Wars cockpit came from ColinD on Jammaplus if I remember correctly, don't know about the rest.

It's been traveling a while though, most recently in Taiwan.

Just a note: the location is in a dodgy neighbourhood (underneath the old slaughterhouse of Anderlecht), you'll want to drink and dine elsewhere.

As far as meetings go, I live 15 minutes walk from there so I'm open to it :)
