Yesssss... a new baby to bring back at the Nuno's Lair         DEFENDER !!!

Here we go... friday the 9th of june, 7:30am... the car is ready :



Remember, it's brand new car, only 3 weeks old, and it will be already the second roadtrip with that car    



Let's go to Nederland    it will be the first time I'm going there

After approx 4~5 hours of driving ( #@!? works on Belgian highway       ), we arrive at location.

The seller is really kind, and after a nice welcome, I see the beast

Ok, after very cool discussion with Rob about coin up collecting, playing his games, it's time to load my new 'adult' toy

Holy Jesus !!! Traffic Jam all the time    As we are driving close to the biggest nederand's town... traffic jam ...and it's a sunny friday evening... I won't choose a friday anymore if I've to go back there

...approx 850km... not really a big roadtrip, but one of the worst regarding the time spended on the road because all these traffic jams & work on the road  :x

Ok, now have a look inside the cab :



On that card, there is two missing rom   Is it normal ?    :



The monitor... it looks clean, but it need to be demagnetized ...



Dust...and empty spaces    ...



Well, the game don't boot...      

Let's remove the main pcb...



... opssss... there is 3 components missing...gr...gr...



... and that blue dust ... mhhhh not to good      



...OK, I remove the cpu and all the rams, in order to wash it...

Well, the main PCB ( cpu + ram ) looks very bad as you can see on the previous pictures : missing parts, acid damaged, ...  

OK, I'll try to repair pcb or finding parts, but while this time, I also want to see that Defender alive, so  

Let's "simulate" the pcb    



I want it as close as possible as the true pcb, so I won't use any converter... the vga signal directly in 15khz in the monitor.  So I've done a VGA cable hack ( isolate the blue, red, green, sync vert + hori, and ground ), and I'll test the game with ArcadeOS and an old mame 0.57 in pure dos on a P3 800Mhz ( Thanks Sam for the mobo+proc    )





Ok, the image looks very good, but I can center the picture in the center of the screen ( not horiz pot  :cry:  )

Ok, let's see how to fix that...

have you think about the multi williams jamma board ?
a bit expensive but still that i will do if i 've a defender.

why?

you can play all the williams games, and also new small pcb = long lige longevity !!!!

Well, it's a little bit expensive, but it's a solution to avoid a computer  

The first step now is to fix that monitor, or change it  

My god, monitor are so cheap in US : 179$$$$

The geometry problems on the monitor drive me crazy  

The only issue seems to install new capacitors on it. Let's get a 'CapKit' for that Wells-Gardner K4600
