Custom 4-way console arcade stick
« on: September 18, 2014, 11:12:41 AM »
Hey guys,

I'm hunting down a good Pac Man machine, which is still a work in progress. In the meantime, I'm thinking about starting a little side project. There is a great selection of arcade classics available on the Xbox 360 en the PS3. So I thought, why not just get a 4-way arcade stick for the 360. I quickly found out that such a thing does not exist, or at least I didn't find it. It's all 8-way with restrictors to simulate 4 way. But as I found out last weekend during the Pac Man tournament, there is nothing like the feel of a true 4-way stick.

So I'm looking into the possibility to build a custom arcade stick for consoles, with an actual Pac Man / Ms Pac Man / Midway stick. The first idea was to disassemble an old Madcatz SE stick and replace it with the Midway stick. Of course that's probably not going to work. It's a perfect fit for Sanwa JLF and Seimitsu LS-32-01, but to cram an over 30 year old stick in there :P

Has anyone done something like this before? And is it at all possible to do? Of course I would first have to find a true 4-way stick, somewhere.

Thanks,
Kuros

After a lot of research into custom sticks, buttons, restrictors etc. I came across this: http://www.tested.com/tech/43832-failure-to-test-making-a-fightstick-more-friendly-for-classic-arcade-games/

It will stay just a dream :(
