Atari XEGS getting quite valuable !

I even see a bid by a Eurocade visitor ;)

Must be some rare games in that collection. Pretty nice, those games are all "re-packaged" versions "meant" for the XEGS (but running on all 8 bit machines of course).

Very nice lot.

Yes some games as Crystal Castles or Mario Bros. "cost" more than the unit itself  8) 8) 8)
Have You Played Atari Today ?

Ah, that explains it. I paid 50 just for the system...already pretty hefty ;)

It's aways funny to see that certain games are very rare.

When Atari Benelux died, they sold a big chunk of their inventory to a toy chain store here called Intertoys, who dumped them for low prices. It was mainly 65XE's with 10 cartridges. Those games you see "thousands" of still here because it was apparently a small selection of games they had...

I never played Battlezone on the 8-bit, I think that was a "dedicated" XE release right ?

Wow, just checked Youtube and BZ looks pretty well done on the 8-bit:

The "BZ" clone I always played on the 8 bit was Encounter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddb1AyTwFVU&NR=1 (This one looks too fast for me, must be NTSC setting on that emu).

The 8-bit 1987 release looks MUCH better than the 5200 prototype:

It's pretty funny that they released the 8-bit version in 1987, I mean, that was already retro-gaming then (seeing BZ was released in 1980).
I great to hear the arcade perfect sounds in that version (because of the Pokey).

Yes it's true that encounter was really great. I like these "blue" releases, most of them are relatively common but few of them are pretty rares (karateka, crystal castles, mario bros.). What is strange is that the also released non-Atari games as Rescue on Fractalus, Summer games... In 1987 Atari already tried to earn money with their "old" hits ;)
