MAME and Cube Quest
« on: November 17, 2008, 01:52:03 AM »
Hi all,

Just wanted to see if anyone here has seen/played Cube Quest on MAME ???

I just managed to see/play this on the weekend and being a game I never got to see in the arcades but seen in magazines as a kid was something I really wanted to see. I used to imagine the music that went with is was something like Jean Michel Jarre (great music)

I want to say thanks to all involved for making this happen  ;D and keeping the LD world alive so many years on

Haven't played it yet, but it looks cool. Hmm, for some reason MAME32 doesn't recognize the game...

Jean Michel Jarre? Awesome, I've got 3 of his records (actual vinyl). If the game sounds anything like his music, it's gonna be very addictive =]

Well it depends on what version of MAME32 you have, you need at least version 0.127 (I have 0.128) and it works well (on a quad core CPU)
Also the dumps of the roms don't contain all the files needed, it's missing the following files:

laser_player_interface_d8748_a308.bin
pr-8210_mcu_ud6005a.bin

There are some sites that have these if you look (Google)

I've been able to play more LD games in the past 5 years, than I got to play as a kid when they were out. Gotta LOVE the internet.

I just found out they renamed it MAMEUI! No wonder I couldn't find a newer version!

While looking for the bin file I found this thread:
http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=171468&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1
3.0GHz min. requirement? Not gonna be playing that game too soon  :'(
