Yesterday I was thinking that I still needed more space in my gameroom. Selling the pinball is a big No-no because my wife and son will revolt if I would do that.
I still have to "house" Berzerk and the Video Pinball of course.
So......I was thinking of SI being my next "victim".
The thing is, that in the end, it's a great cabinet (once restored) and I love the mirror/moon set-up, BUT I've played the machine at some other collectors and was completely bored with it after 1 or 2 plays.
May sound disrespectful and somewhat arrogant, but I now want games that I LOVE to play AND are great cabinets to have/restore. Also, I'm simply very limited with space. On top of this, the cab will require a pretty large investment on repro artwork/stencils, money that I will have to spend on the other projects instead (SW cockpit side-art, just to mention one)
So, I had already decided to put the SI for sale here, but didn't post it here yet.
Fast forward to today. I gave Robin a ring this morning because he was getting my Primal Rage PCB(set) and he was returning the Centipede boards he got running for Gyruss and CKONG. He said he'd come over and so we were at the game room and I was talking about what I'd been thinking about the SI and Robin asked what I wanted for it. I said that I'd be happy if I could get for it what I paid for it and before I know it he says, OK we've got a deal
So in about 2 weeks another cab will "leave the building"....somewhat sad, yes. If I had plenty of space, it probably would have stayed, but if I put SI on the scale with Video Pinball, I just love the VP more.
The great thing is that it will stay in Ridderkerk, so maybe one day, when Robin has restored it, I can at least have a game on it again. Or 2.
