Hello Brian
Glad to see you still drop by from time to time, but sad to hear that you're dealing with health issues. :-\ I hope things improve soon.
As for the collection, it's pretty much the same here. Apart from us, it's hard for a third party to properly assess the value of our collectibles, especially our cels, which are worth a lot. It's definitely wise to be proactive.
Regarding the Arcade1Up, if I do get it, it will be purely for the collection because, of course, nothing beats the Dragon's Lair experience on its dedicated cabinet. But it's true that this Arcade1Up version seems to be slowly gaining value...

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Re: Dragon's Lair Trading Cards by Cardsmiths

I find the idea of these cards interesting, but rather surprising, as we can't really say that in 2025 there's still mainstream hype for a game dating back to 1983. ::)
I agree with you, it probably won't be a great investment for the future (we're not talking about Pokemon here  ;D ), but still, the item is fun and unexpected... and having a few in the collection won't break the bank!  8)

I have 1 full box unopened of 12 packs..

I got a full standard set (except 22. I have a 22 but not the standard card. One holo and one gemstone). Includes death and poster cards.

I have 2 signed cards. Palmory and Goldman.

I have a feeling that they are not really going to be worth anything.

I've keep tabs on here, just really haven't had too much to say. I see you on FB and am on your page.

For insurance purposes, I took a quick picture of all my cels. I still have to do all the odd collectables. The pics aren't that good but it is pretty complete. I'll post them when I get time.

Since I have had so many health issues, I have been considering selling my whole collection. I will probably have Heritage Auctions handle it when I decide to do it. If I pass, my wife won't have a clue what it is worth or what to do with it. I think my goal is to get it all together and cataloged and then auction it in about 5 years.

The A1up DL isnt bad. The sound is a little off. I never thought I would own a real DL. I started with a A1up asteroids that I converted into a skinned Dragons Lair mame machine. Then A1up came out so I got that and then I got a real one finally. I paid $500 for the A1up DL and ended up getting a real one for $1700. I am probably going to see if I can sell the A1up since they are selling for 1k now.

Dragon's Lair / Space Ace / Re: Dragon's Lair II Transcript
« Last post by OldManWinters on May 22, 2025, 03:17:23 AM »
I appreciate all DarthNuno's work trying to work up a transcript of the game's dialogue, which is really hard given the audio tracks constantly playing in the background!

I haven't come across any other take online, but when Dirk throws the Death Ring onto Mordroc, causing him to swell up like a balloon, does he say "Rosebud" a couple of times, an homage to Citizen Kane?

Even with all the advancements in YouTube auto-generated closed captioning and AI, there's still a lot about this game that puzzles me!

Great catch Bruno, and nice to see some action on the site.
Hey Michael, happy to see that you still drop by from time to time!  :)

Let's focus on a small detail today: the marquee lighting.
Normally, I quickly replace the lighting system with a modern one, but I'm curious to see if this tube has withstood years of storage as well as outdoor exposure.

Well, everything is still working fine. :P  Great, we'll keep it as it is.  8)

We continue with the marquee, or rather the absence of the glass window that protects the marquee. :ghost:

Not far from my place, a shop offers glass cutting services.
The dimensions I used are 405mm x 695mm, with a thickness of 4mm.
Nice! The employee is available and offers to do the cutting in front of me.  8)

I opted here for simple, inexpensive 'float glass' (this will not be the case for the pane protecting the monitor).

Below, the employee has finished the cutting and is now sanding the edges of the glass to ensure safe handling.

In less than 15 minutes, the job is done. It cost me 25 euro, including packaging to safely bring it home.  :)

Did I take my measurements correctly?  ::) :P We'll find out very soon...  yes  :-* :-* :-*

Cool, things are moving forward  8)
As you can see, I'm also missing the glass window that protects the monitor.

For this one, using 'float glass' is not an option. It needs to be tempered glass for strength and safety reasons.
Since tempered glass cannot be easily cut, I'll have to wait... one month  to receive my custom cut...
