Technical Area / Hantarex MTC-90 to MTC-900 Conversion completed
« on: November 27, 2015, 08:13:20 PM »
Hi,

Finished writing up this conversion project that turned out pretty good:

http://www.paulswan.me/arcade/HantarexMTC90MTC900Conversion.htm

The 900 has a better picture than the 90 (that I was never able to get anything more than average out of).

Observe the screen shot from Astro Wars - there is an analog effect in use that I've never seen before and was also present on the 90 but I didn't look closely enough to notice it. I don't yet know how this effect is implemented other than there is mixing into the sync signal that seems to have something to do with it... I'll leave it as a quiz to spot it :)

Technical Area / WT: Hantarex MTC-900 "FB" chassis (any condition)
« on: November 01, 2015, 07:01:13 PM »
Hi,
The common garden variety is the "S4" neck board for use with HiFocus Videocolor tubes, but there is a configuration using an "FB" neck board to run standard focus A51-211X series tubes. Anyone have any "FB" neck boards? I should only need the neck board, but would take complete chassis in any condition.

It looks like this:

Thanks,
Paul.

Hi,

36Mb including a couple of photos to illustrate that it's brighter than the scan looks. The instruction card is heavily faded :|

Hi,
I'm looking for a foot pedal assembly for a Buck Rogers cockpit. It looks like this...

...with a foot pedal on the other side ;)
Thanks,
Paul.

Hi,
I've dug out a Zaccaria Universal cockpit to work on. It's missing the game PCB and portions of the controls so I'm trying to figure out what game it might have been used with. Below is what I know so far - anyone recognize this pinout or a game matching this configuration?

Code: [Select]
Horizontal monitor, colour, standard resolution.
22-way edge connector.
Likely 1982-1985 date range.
n/c - not connected (no wire).
?   - connected (unknown to where)

Unknowns:
 Fire button(s).
 Coin input.

There is a empty slot wired for a foot pedal. The connector for it has GND/+5V so possibly an analogue output.
There is a 2-pin connector "hacked" in and an empty spot in the control panel potentially for a "Hi/Lo" shifter.
There was a digital single switch "Hi/Lo" shifter in the bottom of the cab.
U/D/L/R are digital inputs from a dual handled "flight stick" sort of contraption (the same thing that's on Buck Rogers).

Arcade Lifestyle / Zaccaria "Solar Fox" Restoration Completed
« on: October 22, 2014, 12:37:25 AM »
No idea what game this was originally but now it's Macro's Galaxian multi-game. Took a little while, not because it was a complicated one (it wasn't) but because of post show repairs going on at the same time. And of course it's not a Vernimark class restoration - just a wipe down & fix.

The marque is the star...

Another one done, just in time for the show http://www.nwpinballshow.com (though new restores always die early).

I've been working on this project over winter since starting work on trying to fix dead Galaxia & Astro Wars boards that would otherwise be very difficult and time consuming without some sort of Fluke-like test equipment. The basic idea is similar to a the Fluke 9010 but simplified and targeting the 2650 CPU (that has no native Fluke pod anyway):

http://www.paulswan.me/arcade/ArduinoMegaICT.htm

An added bonus is that the probe head DIL 40 socket adaptor board can also be used to replace a broken Fluke probe head.

I've used it to repair a few dead boards now and as time goes on I'll update the software to add other Zaccaria 2650 games and additional features as I encounter the need for them. At the moment I have a small stack of Astro Wars boards to work through since I'm currently working on restoring an Astro Wars game.

Regards,
Paul.

Arcade Lifestyle / The Zaccaria WWW Picture Archive 2013

Finished sorting out last years pictures from around the web...

http://www.zzzaccaria.com/photos_www_2013.htm

Notable finds...
1) A Fantasy was found.
2) A factory The Invaders conversion of Dodgem surfaced (I acquired this).
3) More hints that a Phoenix may exist in an Astro Wars style cab (control panel & curved marque found).
4) Eyes in a full-size upright found.
5) Track and Field in the late Universal style (likely Associated Leisure, same as Hyper Sports) was found.

All good stuff ;)
