Arcade Lifestyle / -Restoration- Atari Galaga´88
« on: February 02, 2012, 08:04:37 PM »
In december last year i had the chance to get my hands on a very rare and hard to find galaga´88 original cab. the asking price for it was 600 EUR incl. a 60 in 1 PCB. the cab was converted to a universal jamma machine, marquee is from pacmania, the cp is very hacked and also the wiring harness.

here are the sale annonce.

in detail:

arrived by me, i had first remove the red plexi from the cp. unfortunately the cpo are in poor condition, but fortunately the sidearts are present.

3x original serialnumber labels inside

In the last days i partially restored the galaga 88.

as you can seen on the last picture, the control panel is very hard hacked, it has 11!!! extra holes they must be filled.
A nice cpo repro from usa arrived in the last days.

Ok, first thing to do: removing the old cpo

and done...

taping up the original holes.

ok, and now the big question, how to close these many holes. the professional way is welding in a metal factory. The first viewed factory located in my neighboorhood, the asking price 70 EUR for make it. i´m pissed off and says good bye. >:(
today i came in another factory and these people are very incredible. they took directly the panel and after 15 minutes it was finished, and the price: 10 EUR for filling 11 holes incl. grinding and bending. I gave him 20 EUR, very nice job!!!  :spaceace:

here pics from work on my panel.

ok, arrived home i sand the panel and makes it clean and smooth. Next step: paint job.

After these i take the new cpo from the usa and fixed it on the panel.
Ok, and now the final act: tape the cpo. fortunately an easy step, the quality was very good and the material easy to handle.

After installation of 2 cone button i built the cp in my galaga 88.

I think i´ts looking very good, or isn´t?

and the entire view

Next steps:

still looking for a galaga 88 pcb
looking for wiring harness from pacmania/galaga88 cab

and...

asking bruno kindly again for his galaga´88 marquee...  ;)

Arcade Lifestyle / D(ST)eal of the month
« on: November 06, 2011, 07:59:31 AM »
Yesterday i has picked up THE Deal of my (arcade) life, a road blasters cockpit for 50 EUR! :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

A full size 1100 km roadtrip with trailer(sorry,no pics), but absolutely ok for this nice catch. And wow, what a beast in size, lenght are over 2,10 meters. :o
the seller has write "non working" in the item discription, but the best part is, it is in working order.  :P ;D
nice, or not?

the sad part is...: i had make a second deal last week with stefan l. from world of arcade for a near empty centipede cab in good condition. on my way back home i had wanted to meet stefan and picked up this cab. but as i arrived he told me, that guys from danish arcade museum has picked up pcbs and 2 cabs from him thursday this week. and they had picked up the centipede too, but stefan has not agree with it! like stefan said, they guys are in his second warehouse short-term without stefan and has taking 3 cabs incl. centipede without an ok. sorry, that was not ok! ::) :(

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / Warehouse in Poland
« on: October 28, 2011, 04:37:17 PM »
As some of you may have seen already in my road trip reports, I live in the north-eastern part of germany, near the border with Poland. (100km away)
Now I have found a warehouse with many arcadecabs there, unfortunately mostly from the 90´s and 2000´s, with one nice exception. :o

ok, time for pictures...:

all these cabs working fine and for sale...

P.S. do you have found the "little" grail?

I´m very happy to had made a nice catch. I had found this cab already in 2010, but not planning a road trip at this time. I don´t know exactly why, but in this summer i had thinking about it and contact the seller. and yes, it was still available, and for a good price.   DEAL!

so what i am talking about?
it´s a Atari Xybots, located in the Netherland, very close to the german border.
I like that cab very much, because of it´s very special design. and the game, mmmh, no idea at this point, because i had never play this in arcade...

so here are the route:

Arcade Lifestyle / Azur Park Gassin/St. Tropez
« on: August 24, 2011, 12:40:30 AM »
After 2006 we are the second time on holiday in saint tropez in 05/2011 for two weeks. we love this nicest little town on earth and our spirit of louis de funes and brigitte bardot in her. :-*
WE CAME BACK IN 2013, for sure!!!

ok, back to topic:
directly in gassin on the route to saint tropez (2 km away) we found a amusement park, called "azur park". a nice surprice for us was a little arcade hall in it. Unfortunately no classic games, but we have fun yet. ;)

Lets speaking with pics:

entrance

right side with afterburner climax, star wars racer and silent hill.

silent hill is absolutely not my thing, too hard. :o

center view

and the rear row

moi... on afterburner climax, fully focused

and my son... but he has no credit... ;D

hey mister, that´s my ball... ;D

we had fun, especially with the basketball machines in the background.

RANDOM PICS from Azur Park:

Go Kart St. Tropez

my son with the gendarme from st. tropez. but at this point he don´t know that he are to small for this cars.
which reminded me of a scene from my favorite movie "BIG". :-*

my son, a good car driver...

and BYE BYE... we see us in 2013...
