The point I'm trying to make is that unexperienced people have more risk of getting a shock from the HV by trying to discharge it wrongly and if it's not necessary, why seek that risk ?

I think Giddy will do it wisely I've bought many items from years on ebay and I know he's a wise guy

as fully demonstrated avoiding any risk following the procedure

Hopefully he'll do it with the help of some technician

He's a wise person so I think he'll not fail

Mav

But yes, if you are going to separate the tube from the chassis, or even plan on only touching the anode cup, YES a discharge _must_ be done.

Touching the anode cup when moving a monitor if you have experience can happen

So why risk?

Moving a COMPLETE monitor is _not_ the same as acting on the tube.

Also, the high voltages are nasty,

Yes, it's a nasty bite (and yes, I've experienced it one time).

You 're right

but as posted on BYOAC (a forum as long as I know in which you are signed too and extremely serious on informations given) it is safer,

Many don't have the same knowledge you have as us in muching inside a monitor (where to touch and where not)

For giddy it would be better to discharge the monitor and proceed with the swap to avoid any 1/99% risk

Everytime you have to act on the tube (as in this case moving from a cab to an another) it must be discharged

It never happens that the tube discharge, but if accidentally it does, it kills

30,000 Volts are killers

not my word check BYOAC

Better work safely

here a good guide to do it:

I've got my JAP 1st run Ps3 (CECHA)

is it only on the playstation network europe or available on PSN JAP

My PS3 being 100% Jap goes to the Jap PSN (I always want to play preview games directly and first than Europe and US servers always extremely slow)

your right, DL is not jamma cab!

I know, it is not an easy fix if it stops or must be restored

Keep it always in mind

It's a shame about the voltage difference, it would have been to have run the new monitor from the original psu,

Don't get demotivated

You can do it just get what it needs to make it work properly with loseless efficency

how do I know that I have the original psu, what does it look like...what do you look for to recognise it as the Atari original!

Thanks for all your help!

Thanks again john

I see to make a photo of mine and post it maybe tomorrow

Ive never done a monitor swap before.

Giddy, one word: BEWARE

it is better you call a technician

before doing anything you have got to discharge the tubes

I thought that if the monitor was from a uk jamma cab it should work in a UK DL cab.

Nothign is sure at this life, consider that each dedicated machine is made to work on its own

they are not jamma so keep this point in mind

Appreciate the any help with this seeing as I'm installing the
monitor tmr.

Discharge the tube,
placeit in the Dl cab and then use the power supply of the hantarex (that should be 150 or 250)

Let us know

and don't be dumb with monitors' discharge procedure

Mav

Hi thanks for the info, but I'm confused! First of all I'm not sure that I have a hanterex mtc9000 or weather it's a mtc 990? How to

Make a photo, a simple photo and post it

and I'll let you know

Checked,

Yes I confirm what matteo said, it is a matsushita (not
Matshushita
eaten much today, eh matteo?!  ;D Xmas even to you  :D)

do as matteo told you, or use an external power supply for the hantarex like the 250 or 150 very easy to find in your country (ebay.co.uk) so you can avoid the degradation of the image

Let me know

Yes

my tron working pcb prize was wrong, I've verified and it's 125/150$ + shipping on the forum klov.

I purchaze the parts on klov forum and ebay, that's why my estimatation is lower.

Thanks for told us your experience and I think it's true that before restoring this machine we can't know how much it's long, difficult and expensive because of all the parts she has.

Don't worry,

We are here to help you, guys

we did it first so we try wiht our hits to help you avoiding all the problems you're going to face on these adventures

The best options in order to find these 'high-end' games like CS or PG are the collectors network, newsgroups or via forum messages between collectors.

I agree with you but the main problem as you stated bruno is that

during the time you spend to acquire these data (or trying to acquire I would say), someone else will come and buy the cabinet 'with no question'.

That's true, and in my opinion as experience (on other games - LD games) this is the main problem dealing with other collectors

I don't know if the price is higher on ebay, though..

it depends on the game and the financial moment on Ebay imho

Now on ebay.com you can grab a Dk in USA for less than $1000 in mint condition

4 years ago it was a dream

And, at the end... ebay US may be an option,

Yes, for many people I think for clearness it would be the best one because people as stated before prefer to choose on its own

the cab

the condition

and the price

instead of a locked choice (example a defender cab - on ebay you find 5 a week at the conditions and prices you want - from one warehouse they have 1 or 2 at higher prices of course)

but you must have a local contact over there who'll manage all the things for you (shipping, etc...), or ...you'll have to pay the high price  :-\

For that I can help but my warning is most on the fact that people are not used with it yet

and this makes me wonder..

100$+shipping for the board. (not 250$)

my friend be aware of your estimates

As long as I know a tested working Tron board (since I looked after it for 1 year) is around 150~200 from Anthony (quaterarcade.com) or arcadeparts.com

Maybe $100 on ebay.com but in this case the sellers (of course) don't give you any refund in case it doesn't work or don't arrive at all

as happend to you

-Control panel has additionals holes, a guy in the usa has send it one complete to me but it never arrive in france :?

You get what you give,

Anyway keep us informed with the restoration of the cab step by step so you can update your story

and if you need an help you know where is the bell to ring ;)

Good luck

Little hint: to avoid missing packages use UPS

it will save you angry moments

As long as I know: yes

My sidam has a hantarex 900E

and 9000 should be the same

I'll check the atari cab tonight and let you know

check the voltage first to be sure (should be 110 on the monitor entry and 220 on the power supply)

Let me know

but it´s not every day you come across a Mint TRON in europe...

Muerto?

are you sure?!

do you check ebay.co.uk in the weekend's?

1 tron cab was right there for sale last week,

still 1 is available from the huge stock from chattanooga (posted on the forum last week)

Tron in Europe it is not so rare are as you might think..

Just ask for it , as bruno said about pong availabilty search through the collector's network

and you'll find one in Europe near to you

gameover can be a good start for you since you are in Denmark, right?

gameover are french so it would be easy for you to get one right there

Lot of collectors join their forum

Instead Pong or computer space seem to be really rare..

Anyway,

We are all fans but must be aware of what you are going to deal with

So here some people's experience who had fought with it (as I did)

http://www.tron-sector.com/forums/default.aspx?do=top&id=342097

http://www.downloadpipe.com/forums/games/TECH-Tron-Blank-Screen-ftopict216998.html

http://www.downloadpipe.com/forums/games/buy-wire-ftopict191822.html

http://www.solvalou.com/messages_view.php?mid=491

Just to mention few..

Soon you'll have restored one you'll see it with a different sight (jean with the missing package is starting.. my good luck mate it will be a tough work but in the end you'll succeed )

Mav

To answer your question a mint tron cab is this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/Restored-Midway-Tron-Classic-Arcade-Game-SUPER-NICE_W0QQitemZ260522528764QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca85a4ffc

on practical things I get used in this sector (since I work in it if you don't know) to be for professional deformation extremely precise

This doesn't mean that I've lost passion, but

I would to help passionate people you to focalize first where the problem are when looking at beautiful machines like tron is

@Maverick
Sometimes it´s better to be optimistic rather than pessimistic...

I appreciate your optimistic view,

but in this case if you have never dealt with it

I started with your same attitude and took me for costs, waiting and fixing process around 2 years before seeing the game back to life

I would say realistic

it is the precise word in this case dealing with a tron cab

Mav

Ps= Consider also that I 've not included the midway coin door missing in the total..

Hope to have given a precise idea of means to have this baby back in mint condition as you asked in the previous post

wow! - do you have anymore pics of it?, what need´s to be done to get it in OK/mint condition?
