All the rest / Sometime returns in a bad way...
« on: April 06, 2011, 05:29:45 PM »
Hi to all ;)

Like most of the forum users, I presume, we have used or seen a Commodore 64.
Now, the United States, a group of businessmen, had the "brilliant" idea to buy back the Commodore and Amiga brand and produce a new generation of computer:
C64, Vic-Pro and Vic-slim, all in the case of C64 , reproducing the entire outer shell of the computer, including the original keyboard.
They are also thinking of doing the same thing with the Amiga line ...
The news might be interesting but, IMO, is bad: they use a modern hardware with Linux as the operating system and then there's the 'C64 emulator to use (the same as what they are thinking of doing for Amiga ...).
Then we go do not develop a new computer or a new operating system, but make it a simple act of marketing just to make easy money, as with the old Commodore machines, they have nothing in common.
Besides, are very susceptible to criticism.
I leave a couple of links to see the "new " products and "affordable" prices ...
To you the comment.

Prices of C64: http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_C64Select.aspx
Vic-Pro prices: http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_VICProSelect.aspx
Vic-slim prices: http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_VICSlimSelect.aspx

P.S. they have maded a spot cross-promotion with Disney to the launch of the new C64 and Disney's Tron Legacy DVD and Blu-ray release http://www.commodoreusa.net/CUSA_Intro.aspx.

Link to the page http://retrocomputer.org/index.asp, unfortunately the site is only in Italian.

Arcade Lifestyle / Crowns Golf
« on: June 19, 2010, 04:06:34 PM »
Hi to all.

Coming back from this trip: https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=1404.0, I catch an Atari Crowns Golf ( and other things to take away...).
I try to find infos on the game, but find only for a Sega version...
The cabinet look like a Dragon's Lair/Space Ace type.
Having time, I'm thinking to restore/re/convert the cab for a DL/SA.
I find on both side water damaged, around the monitor and on bottom of the cab.
Any help on how proceded to restore this cab (expecially for how to treat the damage done by water) will be valued  ;)

Arcade Lifestyle / Dragon's Lair & Space Ace: The very bad roadtirp!
« on: March 02, 2010, 12:59:05 AM »
Hi to all.

After a lot of time and various problems (not all resolved), I had the chance to catch two cabs: Dragon's Lair and Space Ace.
Saturday, February 27th, with the person who knows the owner of the cab, we went to pick up...
A real disaster!
A few days before, had passed other people, stupidly, they have killed and destroyed the cab, carrying away both the electronics and every single useful thing, leaving the cab practically disposable.
It's was shocking to see the level of idiocy that you can get so as not to leave any other crumbs.
It was preferable to recover all the cab, but since They had arrived with a car instead of a van, they did the worst.
Public some pictures just to show you the damage.

...pics will follow...

However I find some other interesting thing: an Atari/Sega "Crowns Golf" (the cab is the twin of DL&SA cab), a couple of "OutRun" (one Usa version, very damaged and an Italian version, like new!!!!) upright cabs and three "Dribbling" coctail cabs (on various state, but from three it is possible made one working).
