This is a Galaxy Ranger game. Not something you see too often.

It's a project that I'm getting rid of as I'm always pushing it to the back of the queue, not being as passionate about laser disc games as I am about others.

The monitor has a fault, the flyback is producing nice glowing flashes through the enclosure. Someone seems to have done some work on the chassis but I'd consider it dead.

As the monitor doesn't work, I don't know if the game is ok or not, I really haven't looked into it. As far as I know it won't boot unless the laser disc player is properly connected, which isn't the case. But everything looks in very good state. As above, in doubt so sold as non-working.

The laserdisc player is included (Pioneer LDV1000) and does start up if you short the proper pins on the connector at the back.
The Sega disc is also included and is in good nick.

The centronics-like cable that goes from the player to the PCB was missing, I hacked one up with parts I had around but I've no idea if it's ok or not. As before, I haven't really put any time at all into this one. I'll throw it in anyway.

As you can see from the photos, the cabinet is the German Bally-Wulff licensed one. Coin acceptors are in Belgian Francs.

There's slight damage to the base but globally it's in really good condition.

I'm open to offers or trades (including projects), just PM me. Cab is in Brussels, Belgium.

Arcade Lifestyle / Play Belgium / Game On
« on: December 22, 2009, 12:29:02 AM »
So today I was lucky to get a sneak peak at the Play Belgium / Game On exhibition which opens officially tomorrow in Brussels.

The location is pretty neat, the selection of games is interesting. Obviously, if you've got a bunch of classic games at home you won't be as amazed as others but it's still worth a visit, if only for the atmosphere. The lighting is pretty low, which isn't always obvious on the photos, and helps.

It's actually more than just "Game On", it also includes workshops from schools on game design, 3D etc. Also other applications for game technology like medecine. Maybe not as interesting to the classic arcade collector but probably more attractive for school visits etc.

Some photos below. The whole series is on flickr

Due to the lighting (and my basic photography skills), it was difficult to get great shots but it should give you an idea.

Arcade Lifestyle / Small peak at some Brussels cabs back in the day
« on: November 04, 2009, 09:35:02 PM »

I was watching the film Wings of fame with Peter O'Toole and Colin Firth.

It's filmed in part in Brussels and towards the end, our 2 characters are in the north station (this is around 89-90).

Anyway, we get a small peak into the station buffet and a couple of cabs that are standing there. A generic Brabo cab and a Turbo Outrun. I thought it was kind of cool to get a little flashback to the type of scene most of us knew quite well in those days.

Some grabs:

Selling the "A simple plan" T-Shirt from Threadless in Small, never worn.
Got the wrong size, now have the right one so that one can go to someone smaller than me :)

It's sold out on their site. It's yours for €14 + postage.

Hi

I've got 2 Taito Space Chaser cabs that I'm offering up for free in case anyone is interested. They're located in Brussels.

The first cab works but the monitor needs a cap kit (image is soft), it's currently wired for Western Express (PCB isn't included). The monitor has been rotated to horizontal position and part of the bezel art adapted for this. Apart from that it's in a reasonable state.

I've no idea if the second one works as it's also custom wired and I don't have the PCB to test and can't be arsed to make an adapter :)  It's from the same source and age as the first one, so there's a chance it's the same.
Side art on this one has damage though..

If no one is interested, I'm going to rip any useful parts out of them and trash them so let me know.

Thanks.

'Business' Area : Buy/Sell/Trade / Wanted: Midway coin door
« on: November 28, 2008, 03:40:38 AM »
Looking for a classic Midway coin door.

The one with the golden metal plate, like this:

Doesn't have to be in perfect state
Can also swap for a more recent one (with silver "video is our game" plate)

Posting here so I can hopefully find one in Belgium as postage on something like that risks being pretty high.

Thanks
