Yeah it feels like we're getting a lot of bronze age stuff. I guess that's related to a law that was introduced in Sweden in the early 80s that made it a lot more difficult to have arcade machines and pinball in operation. The most common cabinets from the 80s and onwards are the Danish JK-cabinets, Italian Aleph, Star Player and more. Real dedicated golden age stuff is hard to come by.

If you have any info on some of the European stuff, please link. I want to learn more about Zaccaria, finnish Atari RAY, Model Racing, Bell Fruits etc.

I had some time yesterday to look more into the pcb troubles. When plugged in, the screen shows garbage letters and digits. The watchdog is barking at the 6502 as often as it can so the CPU is being constantly reset. There seems to be activity on all address and data lines, both on CPU side of things and on RAM/ROM side. I can't see any stuck pins on ram/roms. One is floating on one of the rams but it's not supposed to be connected to anything. I tried replacing the cpu but it did not help. I only used my logic probe yesterday but I guess I need to start scoping things out. I might also try to disable the watchdog just to see what happens. There's no watchdog disable signal on the schematics but I guess I could just tie the output to gnd (it's then inverted before reaching the cpu), or?

The roms seem to be mask roms. I don't have the board nearby atm and don't quite remember the model. Anyway, I bet my shitty eprom programmer won't be able to read them.

Rams are 2102a. I don't have any spares or otherwise I wouldve tried piggybacking.

The problem with the reset is present both when test mode is on and off so I guess it's related to something early on in the boot process. I'm not sure what roms are responsible for what.

That centipede cabaret cp was brutally abused. A metal plate was drilled on top of the overlay, covering roughly 1/3 of it. Also, new holes for other controls had been drilled and the original buttons/track ball were no longer there. Most of the more interesting control panels had been stripped for parts and/or converted to fit something generic. Still, they were quite expensive.

We brought home one of the two star castles. The other one is paid but waiting to be picked up. Always nice to have a second one when troubleshooting.

Tank 2 is missing a joystick, anyone has a spare? :)

Awesome writeup again! I will see if I have some pics to add.

Thanks for the company! Always a pleasure. Great job on the write-up too.

Tested the board yesterday. It syncs and shows garbage symbols on the screen. Was too tired to do anything more with it.

synoptique mean a functional schematic in french.
Lol ok :)

The 13" moniteur is  an "hacked version" of the 19"

The flyback is powered by a 12V (instead of 24V on the 19"), but the chassis only produce 24V.  So they add a zener, a balast transistor and a Resistor soldered on the wire (not on pcb) to produce 12V.

Ah. I'll make sure to double check that.

So were any other games releases for these of other than breakout/Super Breakout?

They look awesome!

The attached flyer suggests that Space Attack could have been available too.

I don't fully understand what the previous owner attempted. There were some badly burnt resistors and close to them a transistor that was only soldered on one leg. The other two legs were loose. Not like a cold solder joint just entirely unsoldered. A human fault. Either someone started a repair but never finished or someone completely forgot to solder those legs back and turned it on, ultimately firing those resistors and the fuse.

The only marking on the chassis is "Atari Europe". I also saw the text "synoptique moniteur 3175 00" on one of the schematics I believe. I'm not sure if synoptique is a brand.

Some components on the chassis looked like they were missing, and some resistors were badly burnt making it difficult to identify them. But spectroman here on the forums was kind enough to provide me with some schematics for the chassis so I have now been able to replace those. Also, I recapped one of the chassis-pcbs (there are two) and now she fires up! At least one of the pulled caps was shorted.

The picture still needs adjustment, but I will wait with that until I have recapped the other board. So, thanks a lot spectroman!

More like this one: https://www.mikesarcade.com/estore/photos/CECM44-NoTabs.jpg

And then pins on the side that I can put on the cables before putting the pins inside the housing. As a fallback option  I ordered the one you pictured too but thought I'd at least ask about the alternative one pictured in this post.

Sorry for being unclear :)

I need to rebuild an edge connector in a Breakout cabinet of mine. I'd like to put in a new 22/44 pin molex housing with new pins so... Anyone with spares? :) I was going to order from Mike's arcade but it seems he ran out of them.

For future reference I believe Ian Kellogg carries replacements (although they're currently out of stock).

EDIT: Or maybe you needed those particular replacements.

Thanks for welcoming me :)

Attached are some pics of some more of the games that are co-owned by our little organization.

Trak-10 (actually there's two of them)
Midway Racer (serial number 256!)
Model Racing's Daredevil

Found a picture of some sprint 2:s in custom cabinets. These are actually owned by a non-profit organization that I, pinge and rogerxy here on the forums have.

I believe these aren't from Cherry but a competitor to them. They were built in Gothenburg, Sweden back in the days and have original PCBs and controls.

Yes like pinge said, Cherry was a partner to Atari in the 70s and early 80s. The earliest game I've found that they imported to Sweden was Trak-10. I have schematics and notes from Cherry dating back to 1974 (even atari schematics with Cherry logo on them). I guess they realised quite early that it was cheaper to just buy the PCBs and controls and then assemble the cabinets here in Sweden. Later on, they imported the VCS to Sweden. They still exist but focus on casino stuff (online and blackjack and roulette in Swedish restaurants). I believe they were active in other parts of Europe too.

I was told that they placed a huge order of Trak-10s from atari back in the mid 70s and that this saved Atari from some major setback.

If you look up the klov entry for breakout, there's a cherry flyer showing the wall-mount version. I think around 10 wall-mount cabinets exist among Swedish collectors today so they're not super rare. The neck on the tube of my cabinet has been damaged so I need a new tube :(

Paddle battle was one of the first pong clones, it seems it waa released in March 1973. Allied Leisure got a license to produce these from Atari so it's a "licensed clone". Probably one of the first coin-op video games to reach Sweden.
